Thinking of purchasing. Advice?
I'm looking for a new strategy indie game and I have been eyeing this one up. I know topics like this one already exists but can anyone highly recommend this game or is there another "Strategy" Indie game that I should go for first. Any advice would greatly be apprecaited. Thank you.

Okay. Well this is a very good game but a little to hard for the casual strategy player. The game play is very tight with no moves to spare, and can lead to frustration rather than fun. There is no easy mode. :)
A game that I would recomend would be Panzer corps. You can buy it from the web or wait for it to get through green light here on steam.

Good luck with what ever you deside on.

I thought Unity of Command was great. It "feels" historical, the AI is a tough fight and the scenarios are very well done.
THe biggest drawback is that there's not that many scenarios included, unless you get the expansion as well, and you will end up replaying some of them.

Personally, as a turn based strategy fan, I would recommend it, but it's probably not for the "casual" gamer, more so due to challenge than the interface (which is really easy to use)

If you're not a wargamer, have no desire to play wargames, or are just a casual gamer I wouldn't reccomend it.

Otherwise, I would say that it is the BEST wargame out there, and you'd be missing out if you didnt buy this and the expansion immidiately.

While most people would say this game is difficult. I would argue that it is CHALLENGING rather than difficult. Every move counts, and your Army runs on logistics. It makes the player truely analyze terrain, enemy, and logistics; much like real life mission analysis.

Additionally, the game looks and runs great. Smooth, no issues, and easy to mod.

OK, this game is AWESOME !!!!! Just the thing I've been looking for. THink something like old school panzer general with some risk and/or axis and allies thrown in for fun. Its SO well put together (minus minor blemishes like aforementioned crashes every once in a while ;). The manual is well written and the interface is fantastic.

Some minor fixes mr. developer man:
1) Can't right click/select away from a unit in campaign mode after a while.. need to "next" unit in order to unselect a unit. I think this is happening 15+ minutes before a crash.
2) When I'm looking for reinforcable units, i bring up the re-enforcement window with mouse then press "i" key to step through units. Problem is that the re-enforcement window doesnt update with each new unit so i have to mouse off then mouse back on for ever "i" press. Another way is to have a "next unit step" re-enforcement button and a separate "next specialist step " reinforcement button.

NICE GD Job with the game mr. independent developer man. Please pat yourself on the back for me.

It's HARD. However it's one the best turn based experiences I've had. Love it.

played demo .. its awesome easy to play worried it may be a bit short though

THe game IS somewhat short, in the sense there's not a lot of maps (though to get best ratings, you'll have to replay some). The DLC has a ton more though

the game is lame in my opinion. got the dl version direct from matrix. I am an old counters and dice wargammer from the 70s. I loved the technical monsters- uof is like stratego, a real disappointment. in fact everything from matrix/slitherline is a disappointment. pass on the kiddie-fare.
Well I can't say I agree with post #11. I consider this game to have been well worth the price; it's a serious wargame for serious players who aren't afriad to take a lot of time on each turn. And the DLC adds MUCH more gameplay.

If there is anyone still on the fence

Amazon.com has the game on sale for $5 and the DLC for 2.50. This game is well worth 7.50

One thing, the game there does not activate through steam. Buddy bought it and freaked out that the code was not valid when tring to use steam.

Try Fantasy Wars - it's a russian clone of old game Fantasy General. Nice graphic, interesting scenaries, upgrades and sides of war. And a storyline... But who cares about it in wargame?
As a know, also there was several add-ons.
