BIT.TRIP Presents... Runner2: Future Legend of Rhythm Alien

Love the game very addictive and fun but...
The game really puts a strain on my eyes when it comes to long plays or trying to perfect a level. Something about the backgrounds and things happening just distract my focus or cause my eyes to unfocus on the actual game. I had the same problem ( albeit worse) with Donkey Kong Country Returns.

This forces me to have to play the game in spurts and take long breaks from it, truly shame as it's one of the few games i actively try to get a higher/better score. Oh wells.

I found the supernature backgrounds to be really distracting, I had a lot more trouble on those levels than others (followed by Bit Trip levels)

Oh, the 16-bit levels? Yeahhhh those can be more distracting but thankfully are optional and/or shorter in number. Been playing the game on a regular basis, but i have to limit my play to 3-4 levels max ( depending on mistakes and retrying lvls) otherwise my eyes just go awry!

Don't worry, it gets even worse on the final world...

I call it "Guitar Hero Syndrome".. Anything with a static background and scrolling motion does that to your eyes.. It makes the things that stand still look like THEY are moving..

I agree, sometimes the background merges with the character, especially when it starts getting busy. I've found the more I try and focus the worse it gets too! I tend to sit well back from the monitor when playing, and things feel less frantic at that point. But like everyone else has said, I can't play the game for more than an hour before I need to walk away for a bit.

I thought it was some sort of refresh rate problem on my laptop. Seems everyone kinda gets this. Still I think it's fun, it there is a way to make foreground stands out more it would be a better game.

I just realized that maybe dev can add a distance fog to the background so user can adjust it?
This could relieve some strain on the eyes.

That happens to me too, but with the runners I think I just zone out entirely. Happens to me in a lot of rhythm games in general, so maybe I don't have quite the same problem?

Thats the same thing I've found. I changed to a different costume and it seemed to help some. At times the black just blends in and I lose the guy completely.

This game makes my eyes go crazy.

The first one strained my eyes a lot more, but I do still have problems with this one sometimes.

Pretty good idea, that would probably work pretty well.

Yeah, especially when bigfoot follows you around in the super nature, but if you are good at listening to the games music, you can technically do it blind. Plus when you focus on the background it feels like the actual game speeds up.

I focus on the background, but I never loose track of the runner(I didn't change costume or characters) if I can stop loooking to see what is going on back there.
