beautiful ;_;

I just finished it, and oh my god this definitely has earned a spot in my top 5 indie games of all time. Right up there with VVVVVV and I can't even think of anymore indie games I've loved as much as that and this one. I've been a casual bit.trip fan since beat, and wanted desperately to love the first Runner, but it was hilariously difficult and I don't think I ever even beat the first boss.

This game takes all the problems from the first and fixes them up extra hardcore. All the new moves feel natural, and are easy to react to quickly. The Charles Martinet voiceover and fake ads felt a bit forced at first, but after awhile they started to grow on me. I never used anyone other than Commander Video or CommandGirl Video more than once, but I appreciated that they all unique animations and such.

I really don't know what else to say, except thanks to Gaijin for putting this on sale. I wanted to preorder it before it first came out but I was broke at the time and couldn't. This is definitely a must recommend to anyone who just loves quirky indie titles with a lot of heart.

Last thing to note and WARNING FINAL BOSS SPOILERS STOP READING IF YOU HAVEN'T BEATEN.

But I really loved the final boss so much. All the entire game you were taught one thing, run right, and make it to the end. Your character is on the left edge of the screen, and everything you needed to avoid is coming from the right. But then that's all flipped at the end! You're running to the left and are placed in the middle of the screen, and it's genuinely disorienting, and truly great design for a final boss. I don't know what else to say. if you're reading this, think the gameplay looks cool, but you're on the fence, and you're willing to take the advice of someone you don't know, then I absolutely 100% recommend this game.

you know what, the final boss wasn't nearly as hard as any of the previous bit.trip game bosses and had checkpoints.

besides, whats the fun in an easy final boss. now time to wait for fate and flux to come out on steam. and maybe wait for a game after fate if gaijin wants to do that

That added to the depth of filed is just painful for me and alot fo people i've talked to, only one of them is friends with me on steam but, the depth of field was visually beautiful but, It disoriented me so much I couldn't tell what was coming or how to react to it till the last second.
I'm pretty sure one of the few graphics options available in the game is to disable DoF. I know I've been playing without DoF because pretty much any kind of fancy post-processing makes the toaster I'm using implode on itself.

Having beaten the first bit.trip I have to say this game does a great job of retaining the difficulty of the first, but making it optional. This game is surprisingly difficult if you choose to skip checkpoints, yet you are rewarded with many points for doing so!
I've enjoyed grinding for high scores in this game a ton and loved the carryover from the previous game :) I know ALL of my friends that have the first game (20+) quit before the end of the first world, so there was definitely a huge improvement from that game to this one in terms of playability! XD
