Performance issue that's only fixed by restarting
So I'm playing a level, getting steady 60fps. I decide to retry the level to try for a better score - 30fps now. Only quitting and restarting the game fixes it.

What's going on here?

Happened once to me as well. I finished world 4, went to 5, and the framerate was all of a sudden low. Restarting the game fixed it for me back to 60fps.

I have been getting the same issues and have put off playing the game since I bought it some time back, played the original series on Wii and loved it and I really like this one but between the screen tearing and dropping to 30 frames makes the game unplayable and V-Sync produces too much of an input lag to be considered comfortable and even with V-Sync I still get degraded performance over time which makes the gameplay very choppy and still produces screen tearing which makes me sick or gives me a headache. Guess I'll go back to playing BIT.TRIP RUNNER until this issue is fixed since I don't get these issues on there even on PC.

What worked for me is running the game in Windowed mode. If I start the game windowed at 1080p and then set the taskbar to autohide, the entire window fits on the screen. But only if I autohide taskbar after starting the game.

It's an annoying workaround, but havent had this issue since I started using it.

Yeah, I did the same thing but I still started to get degraded performance over time like normal but obviously no screen tearing since it's windowed which makes it look better, personally I use this for a lot of games that have terrible screen tearing: http://forums.steampowered.com/forums/showthread.php?t=2675769

I set it for the game then change the options for the game to 1920x1080 via the program's settings and viola, full screen game with no screen tearing and no need for V-Sync to ♥♥♥♥ up the frame rate and introduce input lag. I sat there and played some more and even noticed the game at least to Fraps runs at 499FPS and when the performance takes a ♥♥♥♥ it's anywhere from 230-290FPS. I believe they lock the FPS of the game to 60 so it doesn't play too fast and mess up the sound-to-picture sync, so it's running the game engine at that amount of frames but the game is actually only running 30-60FPS.
