Socialist... are Christians?
Apparently someone doesn't know about either Socialism or Christianity.

Ya you noticed that on the Store Page pics too?
Sure did- I said "oh this is cool" then saw that and went "lol.... what?"

Yeah all they have to do is read anything Marx has written and in one page it'll say "god is unscientific" and "the proletariat needs to rise against the bourgeoisie within"
Yeah, Christians do practice socialism. Like, really. Most people just don't realize it.
Republican Jesus gives zero ♥♥♥ about the poor. His wealth belongs to him.

Haha. I noticed that too. The Socialist Church of Christ. And there are socialist christians, they're just not real Christians.
Socialism is not Communism...

People always say that its become a talking point...
Regardless Marx founded both modern ideas
Having the state control everything is as old as mankind, but it was modernized during the idustrial revolution
Read the Communist Manifesto it promotes socialism
The ideologies barely split, but their origins are the same
I suspect and this is most likely stereotyping that the people who say "Socialism is not Comminism" are those who like one or the other thus differentiate between the two
Either way it's not good for a society
Though I believe that since it is a game that is should be balanced somehow, and I suspect this author like those of other posts is pointing out the bias in this game
For instance a fun fact in Cuba, China and the Soviet Union Christians were not allowed to hold a public office and in some places that ban is still held to this day

Jesus was neither Socialist or Capitalist (both are modern potlical/economic theories of the world, and Jesus was not here to encourage any particular government ideology except His own divine "Kingship") but did seemingly display a few principles of both. Furthermore, it is possible to be a Christian Socialist just as it is possible to be a Christian Capitalist.

A bigger issue to give one pause, should have been the fact that the Socialist (who was a Christian) is identifed by wearing a Communist Party t-shirt. It is IMHO, either a silly oversight / misunderstanding of political systems on the part of the developer(s)...OR brilliant insight. The former because the target demographic of the game is probably 15-22 yr old males who would understand at least, what the Communist logo "popularly" represents, and for continuity sake, "it ought to be kept simple." The latter..."brilliant" because it is the most historically accurate (communist states did not consider themselves as such and instead think/thought of themselves as Socialist, the pre-state of affairs before the ideal, Communism).

btw...the graphic represents a single person, a member of a focus group. It does not represent all those who support Socialism or Christianity. It's not a "group card" but an individual person card.

As to the game itself, I bought it from Stardock (Impulse) long ago. Played for about an hour, quickly became bored with it (despite enjoying strategy, government simulation, and politics). Definitely check out the demo prior to purchase as it is not for everyone.

To discuss the issue of Christianity and Socialism/Capitalism, perhaps taking it to a more formal debate area would be more appropriate: http://www.onlinedebate.net/forums/showthread.php/25861-Was-Jesus-Socialist-or-Capitalist-Does-it-really-matter

Wow I started a debate, I'm not a Christian I just know neither are Socialists.

Oh it's a just one focus card?
I played the demo a bit but the menus sucked and I got lost, and it couldn't keep me on it
Ya it makes perfect sense if it only represents one guy and his views
Yeah, socialism and communism are not even close to being the same thing. At all. And Christians do practice socialism - any time you donate money to charity, you are carrying out a form of socialism, just not one carried out by the government.

Okay well to rebuttal what you said shows my ideology
Regardless of socialism or communism the power remains with the state
Both may have elections
Cuba has elections for local mayors, and venezuela had elections as well
Both ideas originated from Karl Marx, now how his successors took his ideas from there is another story, but he founded both
The state still has complete say in what they do and often times socialism is a guise for communism like how Hitler used the term ♥♥♥♥ for national socialist party, but most would agree he was a fascist, but using the term fascist wouldn't have gotten him the public support when he needed it
Which intrigues me about the game a little since Aionion said that only represented one person
It's neat the game has neat quirks like, but it was too boring too follow
Now a remake of Republic the Revolution might be cool

If anything, Christians are more socialist than capitalist.

"Again I tell you, it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for someone who is rich to enter the kingdom of God." Matthew 19:24

The bible also encourages people to give up all their wordly posessions and give it to the poor and helpless.

Edit: You also don't quite grasp the difference between socialism and communism, they are two entirely different things. Pretty much every developed government uses some form of socialism in its policies.

Jesus relied on volunteerism something that socialists typically dont do as they expect govt to do it all
Jesus told that to the man because of his arrogance
Jesus knew what he did or didnt follow and told him what it took to test his convictions
It was not about what he did or did not own. The other point about the rich man is how people are tied to possessions they own in Acts 19 Paul preaches and people are upset that the message of Jesus would disrupt their business and they turned against Paul. They were tied to the objects of this world like they were the focal point of this world.
With all that said Jesus would be neither because he came here to preach his message. He kept away from politics such as when the Pharasees asked him about taxes Jesus responded in Matthew 22:21 "Caeser what belongs to Caesar, and give to God what belongs to God"
Jesus would not have liked the materialism or consumerism of capitalism or the godlessness or government control in socialsim
The point about Christians not being socialists is because a lot of socialism has had a divide and conquer effect. A lot of socialism has been focused on attacking Christianity. It was the case from both my Women's Studies, and Sociology courses. (Ever since then I've kept every textbook). Everything is divided in this country (America) as a dichotomy partly due to our two party system and partly because of when the Socialist and Communist parties had some influence in America. Both parties slowly went into the democratic party the same way the Libertarians have mostly failed and now go into the Republican party.
My point to go back to the original post is socialism China, Cuba, Soviet Union, and US has roots in disliking Christianity. I will not say that I disagree with everything Marx said, but I don't like the vast majority of it primarily for that reason.

Then every country uses some fascist and communist policies as well so is every nation part of every ideology?
Heck this comment thread is anarchist since no one monitors it, but does that mean that the author, readers or owners of this post or anarcho capitalists?
Where are the regulations for this post?
No one makes money off this thread
