Anna - Extended Edition

Anna - Extended Edition

What the freaking ...
This is without a doubt the single most incomprehensible, weird, messed up game I have ever played. Mind you, I have played a *lot* of really messed up, freaky, strange, difficult horror (and non horror) games of all kinds, including adventure games. I've played most of the King's Quest games, Zork, heck even the ever-hated Darkseed was not anywhere near the scope of this one in terms of sheer "wtf" moments. I don't honestly see how anyone can play this without an FAQ on hand to help them. It makes no sense. The atmosphere is decently creepy, and the art is reasonable, but trying to understand the gameplay or the plot apparently requires a mind like David Lynch's.

Colour me confused. O.o

Yep. I agree. It doesn't make sense.

"trying to understand the gameplay or the plot apparently requires a mind like David Lynch's" That would actually be a huge compliment. *G*

But fear not. There will be a huge update soon that introduces the Anna - Extended Edition. We have listened to all of the feedback we got from players and the EE will be bigger, better and easier to get into without loosing its creepyness.

Many greetings,
Chris

Oh cool, that's good to hear - I've been wanting to play the rest of the game but I'm frankly just sucked out of the immersion due to the difficulty and need to eventually look things up which kind of destroys the creep factor (which is what I generally look for first in a game, heh.) Looking forward to it!

Yes I can understand that. Actually a big part of the prodcution time for the EE went into makig sure that the players get better feedback. We put books into the game that give hints about the puzzles and the personal jotter of the main character will constantly be updated. Also, the help system has been greatly revised. And the scare system now has visual indicators. So that will make the game more accessable.

Sounds great! Eagerly awaiting it. I love me some horror.

Agreed. Cool design but trying to understand any of the puzzles and meaning sucked. Not very good overall.

The atmosphere in this game is great. Only the story is a bit hard to understand and some puzzles makes no sense.

I guess I'm the one weirdo who was capable of finishing the game without help. Though I haven't won all the achievements yet. I will admit though, this game shocked me a bit. I wasn't expecting some of the weirder moments that occurred. Though I don't play a whole lot of games, I'm very familiar with a subcultre similar to some of the stuff portrayed in the game. Honestly - and this might be because I am reading to far into the story - I still don't entiely understand what exactly happened. Which is one reason why I periodically return to the game and look around. I'm excited for these updates too.

And yet they forgot to put a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ hint system in after you finish all the normal stuff? This is nowhere near easier.
