Is DRM removed now?
Has the intrusive DRM been removed yet from the game? It's on sale right now and it looks like a very atmospheric adventure game. But I'm asking about the DRM first, because I won't buy it if that stuff is still there.

Thanks.

It appears to be still in. I don't want to deal with that either. Isn't Steam hassle enough?

This game has never worked properly. Bought it during another sale. It will run for about 10-15 minutes, then it will just freeze and repeatedly play 1-2 seconds of the background audio. There were promised updates to fix this, but I finally gave up on ever actually getting through it.

Don't know if this addresses the DRM question... but thought I'd warn ya.

Thanks, appreciate the warning :-)

This is a real bummer. This game shows so much promise and the concept of it sounds so enticing. It seems it was ruined by DRM and technical problems.

I've bought it less than a week ago and when I was playing it, it wasn't there. I mean when you start the game, Steam shows the window with the cd-key in it, saying the game will ask for it but that's about it. It doesn't ask you to input the cd-key anywhere nor to download any external loader or something (That's under Linux at least), under Windows or Mac (if the game is available for Mac) I have no idea.
Also I never experienced that thing some users speak of that it asks you to register in some website or something

MAC and Linux versions do not have the kalypso launcher system. On those platforms, the cd key is just shown because we cant display it for just one platform.

Thanks for clarifying. I use Windows for playing games, so that's a no-no for me. Steam is already a launcher. I don't need a second one on top :-)

Why in the bloody heck does the Windows version need the 'Kalypso Launcher System' and the Mac and Linux versions do not? This is utterly asinine! No way in the world am I going to wait around for an activation e-mail that may or may not come to login to a single player game.

Are you kidding me? Remove the Windows launcher requirement and I will buy your game. Isn't having the game on our Steam account proof enough that we own the darn thing? Not only does this requirement mean that I will not buy Anna, it also means that I will never purchase a Kalypso game - ever.

That should be incentive enough to get rid of this 'uninvited guest' (Kalypso Launcher) don't you think. The only purpose for this requirement is that you guys sell your customers information to data brokers for profit, thus making the requirement even more ridiculous and underhanded.

We decide to choose the Kalypso Launcher system on a case to case basis. Sometimes we will use it, sometimes not. In any case, we will NOT, I repeat: NOT sell any information to anyone. The system is not really intrusive. It does not even prevent you from playing the game when you are not online, etc. It doesnt gather information about your PC or your playing behavior. It is just there to inform you about upcoming games, etc. I can see that this might annoy you and you are free not to buy this game. But rest assured that there is no grand evil plan behind it. :)

DRM is always evil at some level. People who illegally download this game don't have to deal with this launcher.

People who buy this game do have to deal with the annoyance.

The rest is up to you to think about.

thanks for the heads up. even at $2.50, I'll pass. Steam's DRM at least provides a SERVICE. What does a drm launcher do other than click the .exe for me??? arrggh

Disagree, heartily If I have to sign onto a single player game and deal with the kalypso launcher every time I want to play the game I find that very intrusive. By the second time I logged onto it today I was very sick of seeing it and the Tropico 5 ad, another game which I will not be buying at any price.

And if your database gets hacked and the email list stolen? The system is VERY intrusive simply cos it's stopping me from playing the game. Im not registering to play a single player game when I have hundreds of other games I've never played and this was just the next on the list. And for what, all so you can force adverts on us?

I'll never buy another kalypso game even if theyre $1 humble bundle things simly cos of this DRM.

Well, I was going to purchase this. Dev said you dont have to be online, but hows the login/password work if im not online?

(I read in another post u can have ur firewall block the launcher to bypass this, if I buy it and use firewall to block will I still need to ever give them my email?)
