I would advise against buying this.
The game is based on the assumption you'll spend money on micro-transactions for exp. And as there is no way to refund exp you get from the game itself, you can very easily buy upgrades that won't help you at all and reach a point where you have no choice but to buy more exp.

Thank you, Artemis! Solid advice - and just in time...

The exp is not necessary to use by any stretch of the imagination, and the game is meant to be a casual game that you play while doing something else. I have a 2 hour radio show that I listen to once per week, and I play this (with the in game sounds muted) while I listen to it. The game is absolutely perfect for this function, and it is a welcome addition to the tired and played out freecell and spider solitaire rotation.

You are quite good to both play the game and listen a show, myself i need concentrate a bit to solve the puzzles and beat the battles. -)

OP seems a bit right anyway, perhaps Skirmish can be beat without any upgrades but there's multiple upgrades possible for all buildings and the ability to get very special units limited in number. That's cool but once you buy and spend some xp gained during the campaign you can't gat back this xp. So from campaign you have a limited number XP and when you spend all your profile seems not be able to get more XP.

The only way would be to create a new profile and redo the campaign and buy different upgrades for that new profile.

It's still a doubtful mechanism. But I'd say that after 3 short game sessions I'm enchanted by the game, you want a fun light casual RTS not idiot and requiring a bit of thinking and an excellent interface and control design, then go get it during a sale and at current sale it's a bargain.

i am truly amazed when i think about all the hard work in the games creative assembly has given us, but sadly this is not one of these games, i wasted my money to be honost, the games controls are pretty bad and slow paced which makes the game a chore to play. i had the same xp situation that realy got me ♥♥♥♥ed, but i highly recomened this game on the i pad, it is a lot more fun and i had a good time playing it, just stay away from i phone and pc versions.

Thanks for the heads up about the microtransactions, I'll definitely avoid this now.
DM7 Jul 16, 2013 @ 4:53am
yeah, i bought this game without knowing that there is any microtransaction, and now i regret it, the game sucks, we don't have control over our own troops, and we can just watch them attack, and the exp level are crazy, its not puzzle, its just guest how to put the buildings in the right way.

i didn't notice this thread before buying it, and i thought its just 1$, so i bought it, and now i regret it,

my advice is also AVOID AT ALL COSTS, its not even worth 1$,

and the EXP system is broken, they want us to pay to get EXP, this kind of thing is why i avoid online games, didn't expect it to be inside an offline game.

should have noticed with the low meta score, but really the score should be a lot lower, it doesn't even worthy of being 59 on meta, it should be a 0 out of 10.

I disagree. The game is not that bad. That's a small game, yet it doesn't mean that's a totally crap...

If you'd bother to read, I never said it was crap only that it's premised on the player buying exp with microtransactions.

So? It's optional... If you didn't get the ability to pay for exp, then you wouldn't whine, but that you have, you do whine. The reason it exists is for impatient people who want to get all the upgrades fast. Otherwise you can get them without even buying a single exp...

XP is kinda like cheat. Not totally necessary, but makes you wonder all the same if the balance was tinkered with to make the game that much harder to push you towards committing to the IAPs.

I've done about half the missions so far and the EXP is completely unnecessary at this point. I haven't even spent any of the EXP I got from the game itself.

I also think of the game as more of a puzzle than a strategy game. The puzzle is often about finding the right strategy, but once you do it's smooth sailing to 3 star the mission. So I start the mission and then if what I tried doesn't work I restart until I figure it out.

Will people stop necroing a year and a half old thread? I can't be the only person who ever said don't buy this. Go pester them instead.
