3rd Party DRM has been removed as of 7/2/13
Edit 7/5/13: The third part Act Control DRM with limited activations has now been removed confirmed via a rep from the publisher Focus and a user who was previously locked out but is now able to play.

(Note that the Steam store page has still not been updated to reflect this and I'm not sure when/if it will though I did let the Focus rep know it would be a good idea to do so)

Hi everyone,

I'm Sirkel, Community Manager at Focus Home Interactive.

Actually, there's no addition to the game. That's more like a removal : the DRM was removed from the game. :)

And from page 4 of this thread:

I used up all my activations trying to get it to work, after it 1st launched, so i just reinstalled it again, i can play the game now, and the DRM files are also not in the installation folder anymore, so yes can confirm the DRM is gone :-)

OLD INFO

Edit: I found out later after asking this question yes this game does include additional 3rd party Act Control DRM with limited activations. Not that this is NOT listed on the game's page.

http://steamdrm.flibitijibibo.com/index.php?page=DRM_Lists/The_Big_DRM_List#03_hardware_based_starforce_actcontrol.txt

Hardware-based: StarForce/ACTControl

ACTControl is a fork of StarForce AAA Protection. It is unknown if this is either a genuine fork or a replacement of StarForce. Information

Of Orcs and Men; 10 machine limit

Oh and PS, the publisher says if you don't like DRM go play on a console:

Re: Which DRM for pc version?

Hi,

It's important for a studio to protect its games that's why Of Orcs and Men will have a DRM protection.

As Of Orcs and Men is a game inviting you to play an orc, it would be great if you can play on console if you don't like DRM version.

Freki.

What is the DRM on this game? Whenever I see Focus and Cyanide I automatically think of draconian 3rd party DRM forced on their games. In the past their games have had additional DRM that was not listed on the Steam page so I don't think not seeing anything about it there is a clear sign either.

Gamers gate lists Act Control DRM. Is it the same here on Steam and if so what is the limit on the number of installs?

The Steam version does appear to have the Act Control DRM. It appears to have activated automatically, so I didn't notice it until I went looking for it. I don't see anything to tell me what the activation limit is.
Anterk 22 NOV 2012 a las 15:17
I think the limit is five activations.

Wow that's BS I didn't even know that was happening

Heard about this before release. Seems they want to even be sneaky about it which is a total a-hole thing to do. No sale here until this DRM goes.

Too bad. This game looked interesting and original for once. But additional DRM is a deal breaker. (same reason I don't buy Ubisoft games anymore)
KaYoUx 24 DIC 2012 a las 11:01
I wanted to buy this game for a while. No sale until there's no other DRM than steam. And that will be for all games this company makes. Too bad.
RetroSimon 24 DIC 2012 a las 11:21
