Not even for 7.50
I love steam and I love sales, but this is the first steam sale that I've actually regretted spending money on.

Pff. One of the more enguaging stories I've played. Gameplay way ok and it didn't overstay it's welcome. The only annoyances I had were two specific battles, the final boss and a solo battle with styx, and that was only because of the cutscenes you can't skip. The ending felt rushed and didn't really match up with the first 3/4ths of the game, but it had a solid story and suprisingly deep characters.

If you're looking for innovative gameplay or something then sure, avoid it. But if you're anything like me and enjoy story and character interaction, I think it's more than worth it.

Edit : Also note that this guy has only played little under two hours of a six + story driven game.

I'm running it just fine, and I really like it. It wouldnt make it into my top ten list... but i havent finished it so it might. Its a good game and definitely worth buying if its on sale!

The only problems really is the voice acting (which can be pretty funny at times), and the AI system, combat can become very annoying.

But for 7.50 it's ♥♥♥♥in worth it.

Combat sucks but the story is great. I liked the voice acting.

Despite its many flaws and at times ugly as hell graphics, this game is vastly underated.
The story, music and vulgar bravado has its charms.
I wouldnt pay $30 for this game but at $7.50 it like taking bread from the developers children.

I bought this on a steam sale and it started of being fairly fun but after a while the bugs and camera problems made it so i was no longer having any fun, I would not recommind this game to any one.

I just don't get people like Ozzirian. I'ts an entirely subjective point of view, and we're all different in our likes and tastes. At least holyflux talks of bugs and camera probs, which, if true, could be worth considering before a purchase. I'm hoping it's not true, as I havn't had any probs yet, and am finding this quite a fun game. Sure, it's simple compared to other games out there, but I find it's good to have some good simple fun occassionaly, especially after struggling through the tricky parts of more complex games! It's horses for courses folks. :)

I'm planning on buying this in the next sale (missed last one). Your post didn't really say anything concrete. Can you elaborate a little on the generic points you raised?

How so? What is it in this game that you did not find fun? What type of game/play-style do you consider fun?

or even good game
Why is it not a good game? What criteria do you base this on?
What games do you find good instead?

"Not fun, bad game, not worth the download" is very, very subjective and does not describe anything concrete.

People like myself who are planning on buying this title, browsing for player's feedback cannot take this post into consideration without the actual details on the WHY.

For all we know you didn't play the game right or maybe you had the wrong expectations?

We don't know that as you are being very generic in your complaints.

Okay, so the game was hyped for its unique setting, plot, and atmosphere.

The setting involves very generically designed environments with little to no interactivity. Its basically a maze. Get to one end and move on to the next place, while killing whatever humans that get in the way. The environment ( and animations) get recycled quite a bit too.

Vulgar bravado? How about uncreative dialogue and simple plot. The idea of playing an orc got me to buy the game. Their skills at storytelling made me post this. You play a presumed badass orc with a chip on his shoulder and a grubby weasel goblin as a sidekick. Two hours in and I felt there was no depth to the game. Nothing was cinematically inspiring or 'cool' for that matter. The atmosphere that I thought the game had just wasn't there the way I envisioned.

So what about the rest of the game? The combat is kind of like dragon age I guess. I select a number of abilities from a list and the character performs them. You're someone disconnected from the actual combat. You can say its about strategy, but the game wasn't hard enough to make me even think about strategy. I could usually just whale on a group of guys til they were all dead. Then my health regenerates and I move on.

So for 7.50 I paid for this game, what would I recommend otherwise for this price?

Dead Island (similar graphics, open world, interesting equipment)
Any mass effect game (great story til the end)
Mount and Blade (awesome gameplay)
Rogue Legacy (sweet and challenging platformer)
Kingdoms of Amular (great action-RPG with huge open game)
Darksiders 2 (Legend of Zelda + great story telling)

All of these will likely be near 7.50 in the future. All of them are better games in every regard.

At the end its all subjective. I made a mistake buying this game. I'm usually easily satisfied with games. This one however was a disappointment. There are better games for less out there.

OH OH! If you want to play some real orks! I recommend Warhammer 40k: retribution, or maybe just warhammer online. dunno whatevs.

I heard about terrible DRM for this game. Is it true or I misunderstood someone complaining about the defaut drm of steam?
Ozzirian Oct 30, 2013 @ 1:24am
I experienced no DRM. Consider that a plus for this game.
Tazok Oct 30, 2013 @ 1:28am
Probably there is a DRM whit other none-steam version. Anyway that was the only thing who made me hesitate about this game.

So I finally bought the game last night in the sale and even though I only played the initial start where you meat the goblin and try to sneak into the tower I already love the game mechanics, the characters and how the Orcs and the Goblin are brought to life.

The combat encounters seem to be quite nice (so far) and designed well enough to make the combat experience enjoyable but easy enough to allow you to focus more on the story.

At this point I love the graphics and the way the characters look and sound. I love their personalities and if I think the devs have done a good job (so far) in brining the Orcs to live in a manner I do find believable.

The voice acting is good,..not perfect,..but good and entertaining.

This is my first impression having only played a quick game so far.
Sure, for all I know I might change my mind about this once I get further into the game.

Well, I played the game and must say I completely disagree to Ozzirian's statement.
Yes, in times of open world games the linear gameplay is narrowing your movements. But saying the dialogs are bad and the graphic too let me only shake me head. I mean, the graphics are even on a low setting absolut great, the soundrecording is amazing and the dialogs are simple fun. The Story is well written and if you can't see depth in it thats unfortunate.

I absolutely agree to your valid points in terms of linear ending, this should be more open and suited to the players style.

However, it is good that everyone has his oppinion, I think this game is absolutely worth 7,50 and I realy had fun with it
