I was searching in Steam for an American Football game since Madden is no longer to be found of PC. After a few searches, the closest thing to it I found was Blood Bowl. Now...I am not that of a big fan of fantasy, and I saw Orcs? Goblins? Elves? Undead? I said forget it...it's too geeky for my liking. Then I decided to pick it up and watched a few gameplay videos online...I started to read the rules...then study them...then played a match...played again...and again...and whoooaaaa!!
The first question I asked myself was, how the hell did this game exist since 1988 and I was unaware of it?!! A beautiful mosiac of chess (my all time favourite board game), American Football, Rugby and humour mixed with violence that sucks you in to it more and more. Heck, I am even contemplating buying the miniatures and the board game and preach to the world how amazing Blood Bowl is!!! I even want to participate in a league, tournament...heck even the world cup.
The thing is, even losing doesn't make you feel bad....the highs and lows...the roller coaster ride of emotions you experience is a sensation that chess or any strategy game can never give you (even the old Pro Evolution Soccers on PS2). I am now officially a Blood Bowl fan and I really hope Blood Bowl 2 lives up to its expectations however I am a bit pesimistic about the release date...I hope Cyanide keep their promise of June 2015.
Verdict: 20/10....will look up an Undead cheerleader's skirt again!
