Mana Blast
What is the prerequiste for Mana blast?

I played a game as the Miner guys and another as the Wraith and both had the Mana blast (came in real useful on the final epic quest as the Dragon Lord was tearing my regular units to pieces. Whacked the dragon down to 75% of health, he healed and then burned 1/3 of my troops to ash. Then I resorted to mana blast and because I had saved a huge amount up (didnt even know it as I wasn't using magic much on beginner, took him down to barely anything and won)). But I played as a custom faction and my Sov doesn't have it. Is there a specific trait you need for it?

You get it from a random quest just not early in game play.

You may not have been paying attention when you finished the quest or maybe you didn't recognize it for what it was. Once aquired all your units get it and any skills they have that buffs spells work on it too.

heheheh.. Quests and Quest Scrolls(From Altar) are a big part of FE and the only place to get great equipment for the heros.

Also decent training/leveling path for your Hero's and troops.

Get Scoll. Do Quest. Rinse and repeat.

Throw in the odd magic book from QueenP. (Fire/Air/Earth/Water) ..now need Air book for each army.

Oh yeah. Sov is using Sword of Wrath and after bonuses, she's doing 118 per hit. And she has 180% immunity to fire with 350 hp. She can take dragons on 1 v 1 or even 1 v 2. Got another champion with the Hammer of Cudgel (or something) and he's doing like 85. So much better than shop weapons.

I found another sword that base is actually higher BUT has -100% bonus experience. Kind of ruins the weapon.

And at this point in that game, there's pretty much no quests left.

Altar has Quest Scrolls.. what you killed'em off? I usualy save them for last, or an Alliance if needs be. On ocasion I've trimmed them down and Isolated them just to keep'em safe.

I did a couple faction/Sov's with the scrolls and found is not worth it, I'd rather have a differant trait and keep tabs on Altar and interceed as nessary to keep'em safe. I had BUY the scrolls from my own shop anyway. Without a discount or commision it just was'nt worth the trait.
It can be a bust too if Altar is just too far away, unless you get CloudWalking early enough.

Ya, that 2nd sword from the Arena quest is quite the bust. Now I don't go all the way and take the Hero hire instead.

Great fun..

I was playing as Ironneers. Lightly armored archers with binding elemental/iron golem meatshields works well for the most part. Saves on the crystal quite a bit. 6 company of archers with the best bow with 3 elemental/iron golems to block can bring down mostly anything medium or even drakes as you never advance. Just have your meatshields guard the archers and let the archers do the job.

Hero hire is good initially if you can't afford horses. But that word is destructive. And for some reason on the game I managed to get two of them.

I started using raise land to create more fertile areas and apparently if you raise enough and use birth of summer on them, the game will generate a bunch of new monsters including one that gives you a bad *** sword (in my case).

..I don't think they are related (raising land, summer/bloom and monsters). There are times "Random Events", configureable, that drop monsters.

Considering that virtually all of the land prior to that was taken (and that I previously saw that cutscene) it might have been.

Got it twice. Weird.

That "Random Events" I like to turn it up.. SoM and QV victories off, should be by default on large maps.

Next game gunna turn it up MORE.

Great fun..

Probably a good idea.

I'd love to see all 5 titans on the Huge map and lots of random events, but I have a problem paying $20 for what amounts to a bigger map and tweaks to the game.

Oh, QV off as a victory condition caused my game not to advance. Seems to be a bug. I opened and closed Steam three times and it still wouldn't advance after I completed the Master Quest.

Well, that is realy odd. I've had both of those victories off for aloOong time now. And never had that!

Second thot';
That itself my not be the problem, it may have picked a bad time to catch the "can't move forward" bug.

..look for a unit that is on a "multi turn move" and is pushing on a building of some form. It will be the only thing that can move. If it has been "stuck" there a few turns it may not be able to.
I have found this with Reslon's Crow Demon from "Binding" trait. Basicaly -everything- is waiting for stuck unit.

..other wise; save, full_quit, reload save might do it, or again with another save. Eventualy it will move.

Maybe, but I don't think so. I loaded a pre-QV autosave and the game was fine. I do have about 7 Ancient Crow Demons doing recon in the ocean (basically hanging around where they can't get hit as AI they're watching doesn't have binding).

I'm playing that autosave and just letting the black gate sit empty.

Game's got some bugs.

Give it a few more turns, then if it doesn't get stuck again have another go at the Champ again. Do a full save before, just in case and let us know how ya make out.

(Double check the Crow's just to be sure.)
