Any guides for this game?

After 100-200 turns, I felt like I have achieved nothing but dying to mobs constantly.

Google: "fallen enchantress guide". You will find a few. Don't know if they are any good though.

just finished a normal difficulty game with 7 opponents by conquest victory under 5.5 hours 450 turns, got a few achievements, how can i do better?

Better? How about more gaming.
Bet you never saw a Shadow World Portal, never mind 5. Hang 3 heads on cities or a 100 other things.

Try 12 player on large map.

..and that means making 4 more first.

+4 Sov's is easy. +4 differant factions with units, not so. ..but way more fun.

I created 6, 2 not so hot. Them I realy killed. :)

Currently playing out the 12 player ..great fun.

Next, play them again with teamed pairs. Then with "some" as pairs. heh.

Then head for 14 player, 16 player.

I build my first ever city in Ruins of Imperium, it was kind of exciting. What is a Shadow World Portal? Any other cool stuff in this game that I have no discovered yet?

That's one of the features, there is a bunch more, like at least one for each of the elements and death, if there is a life feature I have not seen it yet. ..and more.

One of the random spells you get from quests. It opens a portal thro which demons come. Shadow wargs and Death Demons. One of the groups is 3 Death Demons. Every couple or 3 turns they come. Great for training crews.

Quests come from the huts or from scrolls from Altar, buy them while on thier property. Or, add the scrolls to your own faction via one of the traits.

Books from Pariden enable the various magics.. again a trait you can add to a faction.

Even scrolls and potions from various optional buildings from city level pops. Like level 3 Conclave; extra essence or scrolls or (forgot 3rd)..
