I think I sequence broke by accident?

I just found a shaving mirror and when I was wandering around trying to figure out what to do next I got an item like "additional future self" or something like that. But I don't think I was supposed to get it yet. Is this bad?

Hmmm,... it shouldn't do any harm but you shouldn't have been able to get one of those power ups yet. Can I ask whereabouts you found it on the map?

I haven't been able to find it again but I can descibe. There was a lift that only moved when I stood on a button. I moved it half way up and by using it as a platform, I could put a gateway at the top. I had to a bit of jumpy clicky action to get it right. Also, I had one jump height boost when I did this.
