No CLOUD sync.
I tried the demo and I liked it, so I bought the game. Your previous game (Shuggy) has cloud, so could this game possibly get that feature? I find cloud very helpful - switching between pc and laptop for small games can be annoying.

I received numerous support requests for Shuggy becuase of problems with Steam cloud sync so I decided not to implement it for Gateways. Sorry!

Ahhhh :( Too bad ppl did not decide just to turn it off (do they know they can do it?). Cloud set to "off" for a one particular game solves issues, and in the end they deprived a nice game such a helpful feature. Ughhh :(

Yeah, that was what I told everyone to do. Seems most folk don't know about it though!

I'm curious, is the problem really related to Steam Cloud function on Steam end or it could be just the Developer who doesn't know how to utilize the function?

I've been using Steam Cloud for Darksiders 1 and many other games. They are working just fine - no save corruption whatsoever.

I'm an IT guy, so intrigued by this situation. This is the 2nd game I saw relating the problem to the Steam Cloud, the other being card game called Planewalker something.

I guess it's possible, I'm not claiming to perfect at everything. I basically call a Steam specific function to save a file rather than an OS one, there's not much difference between the 2 options.

I've never had any complaints about save files on XBLA or non-Steam versions of Shuggy and they use essentially the same code. People that have told me the game *never* saves on Steam have found that if they disable cloud support then the game saves fine. The code in Shuggy is all exactly the same so it certainly suggests to me there's a problem in the Steam framework somewhere.

I never had issues with cloud on any game. I did not have issues with cloud on Shuggy on both my desktop and laptop.

I am not blaming you at all Smudget, but I just think it is a shame you were "forced" to remove cloud from Gateways. Too bad people are too lazy to turn cloud off. It is good that you listen to community though and offer help to enjoy the game.
End of my crying :P

This issue is closed ? There will no support for cloud ?
Thank you for your attention

Store page doesn't specify Cloud as feature, but if you go to Properties/Updates for Gateways you can see option to enable Cloud. I haven't played game for a few months (and I don't have it installed), so I don't know if that works.

There's no cloud support in the game so enabling it won't work. I'm still not planning on adding cloud support I'm afraid.

So, let me get this right, because steam was (And, they were, verified by Valve) having a few issues with steamcloud that could be fixed client-sided (Disable cloud), you're depriving us of the feature? That makes zero sense, hell, if it's really that bad, have a notification when you first launch the game explaining it to the user.

This is unfortunate, as, after playing about a minute of the demo I thought "I don't even need to finish this, I need to buy this" (Massive fan of the portal series, anything portal related is a must-buy for me), but, cloudsync really is required for me due to mass reinstallation of OSes and multiple computers.

Believe you me, I know what it feels like to have to try and please everyone, while spending your time doing boring work, but, if it's as easy as you claim (Not read the SteamWorks documentation, so, I can't really verify said statement), then, you might as well add an optional feature in.

Hey man. I feel your disappointment - I wish Cloud was a requirement for every game, but don't blame dev for this. It's not His fault that ppl are stupid, lazy and lack resourcefulness - that's the sad state of affairs. It takes up to 10 seconds to turn off cloud for a game and maybe 20 to turn off cloud for all games at once (steam settings), but no! PPL won't bother or look. Why do you think we have so many easy games, tutorials, hand-holding through the game?
PPL won't bother to look for solutions that are just a few clicks away - it's better to waste time creating topic on steam forums and wait for answers (it happens so often - take a look at forums - the best example are questions about game features that are already explained on store page).

Even if this were the case, I feel $5 entitles them to a C&P generic support reply.

I understand you don't add the feature
In the properties window of many games whithout cloud support, the part "steam cloud" with the chekbox to enable the cloud sync is missing.
Maybe, it could be more explicit, if this part and the chekbox was not present... I don't know if you have the hand on it...

Anyway, nice game !!!
