So there is still "THE last puzzle"???
I thought I completed the game when I finished it on normal, but after reading some threads it seems I was missing the infamous ULTRA HARD final puzzle that will test the wits of any stephen hawking aspirer! I switched the difficulty and the last puzzle changed by having now 2 beams and 2 more light receivers.
Im excited to figure out the solution .... damn! :)

No kidding!

That puzzle on "Normal" is somewhat a joke in comparison to the original "Hard" version, I'm glad I picked Hard by default because of my pride when it comes to puzzle games.

It took me 2 hours of in-game thinking and a week of on-and-off thinking, and I made a completely different solution compared to the default dev solution. The dev solution is just sick, mine is cooler. :P

The thing is that since I already solved it on normal, even if I change the difficulty to hard the puzzle will be solved already. I guess I can still try to solve it and "imagine" that the solution worked.

Either that, or I've just taken the time to redo the whole game up to the point where the "fun" multi-gun puzzles begin.

PLEASE NOTE THAT YOU SHOULD MAKE A BACKUP OF YOUR OWN GATEWAYS.SAV FILE. ALL GATEWAYS SAVE ENTRIES ARE STORED IN THIS FILE, SO YOUR STATE WOULD BE OVERWRITTEN IF YOU DIDN'T BACK IT UP.

Okay, all caps over. :P You need to use the second slot from this .sav file.

Or this if you want only the final final puzzle. Same rules apply.

Thank you! I assume you already got the secret suit too right? I dont want to be avoiding clones here and there ...
By the way, where is the save file for gateways located? I checked my steam apps folder and couldnt find it in the gateways one.

Of course I did. :P

Good luck!

I thought you forgot to complete some puzzles because in one of the save files my character was 3 levels away from the last one. Then I realized you did that on purpose, since all of the missing ones are the "hard versions" of the normal ones. So far I solved the first 2, and I havent tried the third one yet. Thanks again for the save!

I'll be curious to hear about your success.

Done.

I had to fully understand how the time gun worked, both whatever happens in the green area and in the blue area, and abuse the reflecting mirror in order to solve the puzzle. The same time gate that I used to send a beam into the past, was the same one I used to send the second beam but at an angle using the mirror. This second refracted beam then went through another regular portal ( the first one you get ) and came out of another that was located on the opposite side of the 3 light receivers ( effectively turning one of them on, at an angle ).
I guess there are many ways to solve it, and Im pretty sure mine wasnt one of the "elegant" kind, but hey ... I solved it! ^__^

That might be similar to the dev solution, congratulations! :D

I prefer mine, but especially because I figured it out, haha. I didn't use weird angles, I did use some tricks from up my sleeve, though.

This is it, in case you are curious:

lol! Instead of changing the angle of the second beam you just used the big clone in order to send it through the gate, and not overlap the first one ... nice. Very creative.
Im gonna check the dev solution to see if mine was similar to his.
EDIT: Just saw it on youtube and I was just lost with all the beams crossing each order. Looks like they are making a spider web or something.

I guess every person is different than the other and so are their ways of thinking. What was hard to grasp for person A, maybe easier to understand for person B, and viceversa.
I wish I could capture a vid of my solution ... =/
