Poor port?
Is it just me or does this game feel like it was poorly ported over to the PC? I even tried playing with a gamepad and the controls still felt clunky and awkward. Any other opinions or am I just being picky?

It's always felt clunky. I just attribute it to the sway and feeling that you're in the character and they try to feel the stamina/melee

Look into dead island helper riptide

It's a crap port.

Its not poorly ported, the game is "clunky" on the consoles too. Otherwise its like mojoman0 said, they tried to emulate the feeling you are your character.

The "clunky" feeling is a kinematics system (simulation of body movement) such as is used in System Shock 1 & 2. System Shock 2 did it much better and it does take some getting used to since it feels very different from most games.

It isn't a great port either. The engine has some performance problems and a few issues with PC controls that are still broken from the first game, but you can fix most of it with the Dead Island Helper.

Not sure what all the complains are about. Mabe I'm lucky but I haven't had any problems.

Yeah it works quite well with mouse+keyboard and thankfully has no mouse acceleration. The main issue is that keyboard movement causes stuttering because of a problem in the way the game engine reads keyboard input (same problem as the original game.) The other issue is that the mouse sensitivity slider affects the mouse speed in the menus as well (same problem as the original game again,) so it can make them difficult to use if you prefer a high or low mouse sensitivity. Both of these problems can be fixed with the Dead Island Helper though.

The game runs smoother I think than Dead Island.

I love it

Look for "Dead Island Helper". It tweaks your configuration of the game so it runs smooth again. (there's a version for DI and DI Riptide)

I've had so many problems with the initial game that im holding off on this one until Winter sale with the hopes its cheaper than this. Will give me sometime to finally clear through the first game. Reading through peoples issues though makes me glad i waited.
