Dead Island Riptide since is better polished and refined fromula of DI with more content in, new features and updated engine/skills/inventory/weapons/mods. Great thing about Riptide is all your playing styles are supported: are you speedrunner? continuous flow of campaign, more seamless than before supports it. Do you want playthrought with more in depth to heroes and npc with slightlly tongue in a cheek humor, drama and little to medium seriousness? It's herre. Or you just expect set of maps and chapters better suited for co-op? Design of quests, areas (now clearly marked on map) and environment will support this to the engine extent. So you get zombie slasher 3 in 1: speedrun mayhem, single player campaign with deeper story and characters, also full blooded co-op adventure. ;-)

Yeah Dead Island Riptide surely have a lot of new content but some scenarios of Dead Island were more fun , like the town of Moresbi, the police station, the hotel and the jungle secret lab

I enjoyed Dead Island more, but because the community seemed more pleasant. I gave up on Riptide because of 3/4 games I'd join would result in an instant-kick. Content-wise, Riptide was refreshing and I don't know if it has changed now, & I am considering doing another playthrough, but the abundance of idiots who couldn't be bothered setting their slots to private just spoiled it for me. Especially since it seemed more dependant on co-op.

The thing is, I played Dead Island regularly for probably about 14-16 months. I played Riptide for 3 months. That's my 2c.

what sux in Dead Island is that fire arms are pretty much useless, thank god they fixed that on Riptide, and about be more dependant on co-op i agree, most quests need 2 or more players to do it fine like when u have to hold against hordes
the first one for sure :D

Slots are usually set to private because idiots who can't effectively enjoy the game or cooperate or dudes who enjoing hacks or trainers to get content with simple editing that would otherwise need some effort. Others will just jump in game and keep killing people in team and stealing their weapons. But I agree in one thing, I don't approve instant kicks with no reason or because someone want enjoy side quests. Community is the same as DI, just some disloyal whines will throw bad things at Riptide as sellout, cash in, dlc, bugfest and stuff like that which you alone can't evade or not see at all. Because of that (DI is amazing, Riptide sucks) people in Riptide are less tolerant to newcomers or not trusted, tested as loyal players, friends etc.

Dead Island-this Riptide didnt have as many cinematics as the original=felt rushed.

but the boat secene in the beginning was EPIC!- that said after going to shore it fell flat.

you didnt get to know much abt the new character- they needed good writers for this one.
