Game unresponsive to keyboard and mouse until you do ALT+TAB and go back in

Everytime I load up dead island riptide (never an issue with the first game) and it says "press any key to continue" you press a key, such as enter or spacebar and nothing happens.

However, if you ALT+TAB to return to desktop, whilst the game is running and then go back into it, everything is ok.

Yep, one of the fixes for it. the other is to use the DI:Riptide Helper and have it bypass the videos.
