Shadow LOD and visibility conflicts with Field of View on PC
**************************************************************************************************************
I try to hold this thread up not like the others because of its an really annoying but not gamebreaking issue. Sadly many today games have this issue but most only sparly.
**************************************************************************************************************

The issue is some sort of Shadow LOD what is cutted and conflicting with the actual ingame Field of View. Mostly seen on slowly looking arround, you can notice it when Shadows appear and dissapear with the Field of View when looking arround. I cant say if this is only a bad implemented FOV or really an issue but it comes definitely from the Field of View. As an example you can even notice it when you look slowly from left to right and see appearing shadows on different formations only from looking arround but stand still.

The issue is not only releated on geforce 600 series, i found it on 500 and 400 series
too. Maybe it is on AMD cards too and im really sure it is because im sure its a FOV issue.

I watched many records on youtube, records from many different person with different hardware types and sadly i found it everywhere. Mostly you dont notice because you are concentrated on the game and look fast arround. This issue is only related to the Pc version of Dead Island and Dead Island Riptide, i tested both games on Xbox 360 and PS3 and as far as i see they are ok.

In the next days/weeks i try to cut the parts out of the records where the issue is persist and post screenshots for a better view. I really want that this issue gets adressed and fixed for Dead Island Riptide and specialy for future games. And surely i try to get a fix or tweak asap !

Please read all before you answer, it needs constructive contributions no detractors !!!

You can notice it on the beach on the other side by the bar where the FOV is conflicting.
This is an really extreme example and Riptide is much better at this part but still there.

Sadly i dont figured out how to solve this, watched more records looked at older series and found it even on 200 cards. The next step i look depper into Amd cards if i find this there i can get a closer lock at different drivers.
I had the luck to try out Ati 7970 and 7950 cards on my own and found it there too, and to get sure that this wasnt only bad luck i compared it to some record from 6000 and 7800 cards with the same results. Im nearly finished with my records and screens and nvidia has promised to investigate this.

This is a really late reply. But this is really on Techland's end. It's their Shadow draw distance/lod settings within the engine.

If we knew which variables within the .scr and config files were these values, one could possibly change them.
yeah i give it up because they wont listen but its on every techöand game so far and im sure it comes with the game daylight aswell
