Back to version 5.0

Is there a way to patch my installed version 6.04 back to version 5.0 ??
Or another way to make the cheats work ?

I know, cheats are lame, but I keep getting mauled at the same point in the game and this is frustrating me enormously.
My wife ordered me to cheat and chill, so I'd return to be the loving non-violent husband she is used to ;-)

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
