so I just got to it, and man, that place is crazy.

So the zenos were placed on Zenozoik because Chimeras that talked are freaks of nature (for some reason my mind is calling back to Fullmetal alchemist) and they wanted them to stay there, right? Why, then, were the regular people placed there; the progenitors of Ghat, Rimat, Xetse... I mean, considering how advanced the outside world seems to be I don't know why they wouldn't just leave the chimeras and take the regular people. I guess, I wasn't super clear on what happened and who the people leaving messages were.

unless they're dead, I guess? what are your thoughts

I also just thought of something; in one of the stones, they say that Zenozoik is protected by;
a desert in the north
the ocean to the west
mountains to the east
and frigid temperatures in the south

Isn't that all true of Chile, as well? The atacama desert, the south of chile is close to the south pole, the andes and then the ocean?

Yup, the developers totally based Zenozoik on real-life Chile. Considering they live in Chile, it's not too surprising.
I replayed Zeno Clash 1 the other day, and even there the world map clearly shows that there is an ocean to the west and mountains to the east - it has always been there all along!

When you touch the throne at the end of the world, and you're teleported to the moon, look at the earth and you see chile.

chimeras. eggs. mermaids, golems, duality species.. trying to gather all the references from the stones from each area. i guess when i finish the game i will make more sense of it. 25 hours and still not finished but im close, only 1 more skill totem to find :] 70 moths so far found.
