D3D error

Upon launching the game, I get:
"D3D.CreateDevice() Error: Please check that your graphics card meets the minimum requirements and that your drivers are up-to-date. If your graphics card has little memory, try switching your computer to a lower resolution."

I run Windows 7, 64bit. My resolution is 1280*1024*32bit

I run an Nvidia 8300M GPU, with recent drivers 301.42. All my other dx games work, the config I believe is ok.

I installed Windows 8 Pro this evening. Interesting to see that Home now works...
