This game isn't perfect, by any means. As a point and click, it's not especially difficult (that's not a criticism, really, but don't expect to be on the edge of your seat while playing.) Some solutions are a little hard to figure out, the ending feels somewhat lacking in impact, and I'm pretty sure a few unedited lines of dialogue got put in by mistake.
But the characters are easily likeable, plus the interactions are always interesting and usually genuinely funny. By this point, pop culture references, fourth-wall jokes, and calling attention to the nonsense of your own world is a very hit-or-miss style of comedy. KING art definitely knew what they were doing. They had a plan, stuck to it, and delivered what I already know will one day be a comforting piece of nostalgia for anyone fortunate enough to be able to enjoy it for what it is.
All things considered, I can honesly say that I genuinely enjoyed every minute I spent in this game. I'd call it a must-try for any fan of visual novels. And if it happens to be on sale, as it is now for the release of the sequel, definitely snag it up. Worth every penny.
