Hope you don't take this the wrong way, but man do I hope not. What I mean is that Windows XP has only directx9. it is fine and dandy that they have backwards compatibility, but I really hope they aren't spending tons of resources on that. I know a lot of people love XP and all of that, but seriously, Windows 7 is pretty good and we have DirectX 11 now, with better shaders and optimized graphic abilities. I'd much rather have them spend time making sure the gameplay is good and that directx 10 and 11 work well then a bunch of time on an outdated technology. take it or leave it, that is my hope at least.
sure, but this is almost the same as having the new Halo come out and asking if it will be on Xbox as well as the 360 (or 360 and ONE)... I mean, it is great that they are providing DX9 (most likely due to the same architecture that already supports it), but it doesn't seem like something they should spend a ton of time on. also, I don't do graphics programming, but it could be due to a bad compatibility in how dx10/11 do antialiasing and dx9 does... I'd much rather have them spend time on newer technologies than adding features for obsolete systems (and as much as I know people love their XP, it is an obsolete system, at least as far as gaming goes)
Yes, I actually do realize that, which is why I'm fine with them still supporting it, all I'm saying is that I personally hope they don't spend a bunch of resources making your graphics more pretty... I would rather have them spend their time making sure the game runs well, is optimized, and graphically, spend time on the better tech (10 and 11)...
If they do decide DX9 is worth the resources, that is fine, I just personally think that it isn't something they should do.
also, I didn't say XP was obsolete in itself... i say it is obsolete for gaming... many companies are starting to slowly stop supporting XP compatibility.

also, this is less than a year out, which shows that it will become obsolete for security reasons april of next year (and I really hope Rome 2 is still going strong at that time) and it will then truely be supporting an "obsolete" system...
