New patch totally F*CK$ up pike formations' ability to stay in a stationary position in melee
not only did the new patch ♥♥♥♥ the pike formation spacing up but now they seem to be unable to stay in a stationary defensive position during melee.

IE when I try to hold a entrance to a fort ( or anything) with them they always move forward slowly and eventually are out of their original position. This means they are now vulnerable.

This is disastrous for many situations where u need your troops to actually hold the position you assign them. IE this is where guard mode comes in handy... u know. that feature they took out of the game and say it is default in every units programming... well if that is true how the ♥♥♥♥ are my men not capable to simply hold the positon they are standing in?

♥♥♥♥ you creative assembly for making me have to use user created mods to make your game enjoyable enough to be worth playing. Shame. Thanks for at least making the game mod friendly so others could make it fun... for what its worth.. :/

yeah I play a selucid army alot and the patches havent made problems for me. Alot of these people who are complaining are playing with various mods or just need to l2p. Adapt your strategy if your pike formation doesnt stay nailed to the ground while in combat. Read any ancient historian, phalanxes and shield walls get pushed. OMG!! NO WAYZ? polybius describes alot of ancient battles and the term for pike on pike fight is "PUSH of pikes" (emphasis mine)

oh i downloaded relative mod and fixed the pike formation immedietely after the patch that ♥♥♥♥ed it up...I am just here to vent and give the middle finger to CA for this decision they made. This is not about preference of the fomation as much as it is about the formation working anything like it did pre patch... basically it got a huge nerf... but not in stats,, but in how the pike formation works. The pike formation is way weaker post patch but the stats of the pikemen did not change... this is due to whatever they changed in the mechanics of that formation, both spacing of formation and the way they stay together as a group. Also, pikemen would actually try to hold their ground until ordered to do attack and move forward (Formation attack). Pikemen of the ancient world would not simply walk forward as soon as the enemy clashes into their pikes, yes push of pikes... and i would not be complaining if enemy pikemen pushed back my pikemen or if anyone pushed them back... that is not the issue.. the issue is the new vanilla pike formation goes forward and breaks formation no matter who they fight.... I simply want the ability to actually command them.. to actually tell my men what to do.. stay here. or go there...I would understand less reaction to orders if I was ordering a mob... but its a ♥♥♥♥ing elite group of pikemen.... CA achieved this with their previous titles better than they have with this title.. and for that.. I give them a big middle finger cause I see easily how haste for release has meant a lower quality experience for us all.

Every rationalization for the absence of guard mode (default behaviour for disciplined units, formed attack, AI defend mode whatever else) is nonsense, there is nothing in the game that actually behaves like, and has all of the characteristics of guard mode. It is just missing from the game. I know Realistic Army Mod are trying to get some kind of guard mode working, but my suspicion is until CA finish it and include in the game, we may be .... outta luck.

You sir, are a friend of mine, I could not agree with you more... all units are in guard mode by default? If that is true than I am a ♥♥♥♥ing God from The sirius galaxy that breathes fire by default..... the cheek of them to just lie... If the troops behaved like guard mode from previous titles then and only then would I consider their claim to not be a lie...

What you read is probably not correct. Could you actually visualize a battle fomation in ancient times that spaced out??? A defensive pike wall formation spread out enough to where man can literally walk in between them? I think not. Anyone including CA can post articles in the intention of making themselves look more accurate. CA even funded a historical channel on youtube to educate people in roman history...??? Or to simply give people the vision of rome that is in line with theirs so less heads trash talk their release.... I have not watched it.. but who knows how much of that is just BS or accurate... its all here say.. now If someone showed me the writings from someone during the time of Alexander and they in the writing described a phalanx... I would believe what that said for sure... But CA has lied a good number of times about things with this release... cheers mates... its time to smoke some CHRONIC!!!!! HAPPY WEEKEND!!!
