On extream i get <20 a lot

what does it take to run this game with everything maxed out!

A better CPU. From what I understand this game is more reliant on the CPU than the GPU

What CPU do you have? You may need a more poweful CPU.

It takes someone with ALOT lower standard of what a playable FPS should be. If you think 60 FPS is bad then there is little hope for you. sorry man

A CPU is more important though for this game

I can confirm on the CPU, I upgraded from a 2-core to a 4-core CPU, and though it needed a much stronger fan to run without heating problems, the game definitely responds 100% better now.

Extra RAM can't hurt either, but you don't want to overdo that. Hope that helps! Newegg can usually help with a good CPU, just check to see that it'll fit in your motherboard. Easy replacement, inexpensive when compared to buying a whole new motherboard/PC.

Just for the record, the Motion Picture Industry used 30FPS as the standard for decades. I don't what it is now. The point being, my game is run at a steady 45FPS with settings on a mix of Extreme and Ultra (and irrelevant effects off). I have manipulated things to achieve the mystical/magical 60FPS, but there is no "real" gain that I can seriously detect.

How would a i7-4770k with a 780 perform on extreme settings? anyone that has this setup can confirm their personal experience running rome 2 with them?

I have a Intel quad core Q9650, its the most powerfull cpu i've ever used and is the most powerfull core 2 cpu. But it should still play smoothly on extreme graphics along with a Radeon HD 7750 1GB GFX card, but it doesn't. I also have 7 GB ram as well. Is my cpu powerfull enough to render all the gfx. It should be, i had before a intel E8600 dou core. Its still basically runs the same as the older one but slightly better. ON the website "Can i run it" tells me my hardware goes beyond the recomended specs. This still needs to be optimized. Or can some some pro tell me if my CPU is outdated compared to all the new i3's, i5's and i7's.

yea time for an upgrade...it's not a bad all purpose CPU and can run most games fine...but Rome 2 takes a lot...It's definetly dated though.
The newer I seires is A LOT faster.

I dont think Rome 2 uses multiple cores, could be wrong. Do know that it is CPU intensive though

It should do very well. That setup is almost the exact same horsepower as mine even though they are configured completely different. I get 55 to 62fps @1920x1080 with everything on Extreme except Shadows=Ultimate, Unit Size=Medium, SSAO=Off, Alpha Vegetation=Off, AA=On, AF=16x, & all other special effects are turned on & maxed out when playing Rome 2. You should be able to do the same.

i7 4900MQ OC to 4.0GHz with dual GTX 780M in SLI.

It uses multiple cores. I have watched my resource manager while running the game & all cores are used. Unfortunately they are not used to their potential. The game will not take advantage of extra resources properly. It runs 2 of my cores at 80%, 2 more cores are running at 40%, & my other 4 cores are barely running at all (less than 5%). If this game would use my extra power I could get over 100fps on Extreme easy. Right now I get 55 to 62fps with mixed settings (mostly Extreme).
