What I need to upgrade for Extreme setting 60fps?
I build computers regularly, and was wondering what the mininum upgrades required would be for extreme 60fps from my current build?

Graphics Card: GTX 650 2GB Vram (Generic from a pre-built I pulled from a friends when I installed a GTX Titan for him, so I don't know manufacturer, came from a Lenovo computer)

CPU: Amd fx-8350 black edition

Ram: 6 gigs

Harddrive: Generic 1TB (From a pre-built, I pulled from a friends when I installed a ssd for him so I don't know the read/write speed)

If ya need anymore info tell me what you need and Ill get back. I already know the PSU would need an upgrade and can calculate voltage no problem,so no worries there.

Ah awesome. I think its the ram thats a big resource user then, I have a friend with a 770 who cant even get 60 on ultra, but has less ram. At least thats not a very expensive upgrade really, ram is cheap-ish and 770 is getting cheaper constantly.

Sorry, but 8gb RAM is more than enough. BTW an Intel processor is a better choice for this game.

I don't believe the guy with an FX 8350 & GTX 770 is getting 65-70 fps on extreme with vegetation off. Unless he is playing at a lower resolution like 1600x900 or lower. To stay above 60fps @ 1920x1080 get an i5-4670K or i7-4770K & a GTX 780 or better.

Yeah I agree, I have seen a fair share of people complaining about siege stuttering and fps drops with a FX 8350 cpu in their builds. If that was the in-game benchmark score then that may be right, but in game during sieges or massive battles that 65-70 fps on extreme is not the truth.

Yeah, I have to add my voice to the clamour here - no doubt deathmarch you are having a great experience if you say you are, but there have been a lot of complaints with 8350s, so it's just possible there be dragons.

If you get problems, check out the official forums where there are some tips for amd users that may prove relevant.

I have a 8350 and HD 7950 xfire, I turned the particle effects to low and set every thing else to high I put v-sinc on so the fps on benchmark stayed at 59-60fps and I set the unit detail to very high (hate having poor graphics for soldiers) and put anti anylysing on set the atrophic to 16 and had , seige improved in a custom seige battle Carthage, also I did not turn off unlimited graphics memory, atropic filtering to 16 and textures ultra- works well with two standard armies with unit size ultra vs 2 armies. Comparing my current system to my old one I will go Intel and Nvidea in the future.

Yes My system is a AMD 8350 and AMD 7950 X FIRE and SSD this game is pants for my system on estreme on benchmark I would be lucky to get 40 fps but it does improve if to well over 60 fps is you set every thing to high turn off veg alpha. In the future I will did deeper into my pocket to buy Intel again and Nvidea high end card as AMD sre just not even punching there fighting weight in performance.

I going to try a lower resolution on extreme to see if it will hit 60 fps

Try lowering Unit Size to medium & Shadows to low. Those seem to pull down fps the most. Also turn off Depth of Field & SSAO.

Try that before lowering your resolution

I tried settings on extreme on lower 1280x800 resolution on benchmark, although the average is above 60fps it still dips into the 40fps when the battle kicks off. I love this game but I don't think my system can handle seige battles on exstreme in 1920x1080 shame really but I will keep fiddleing.

The game barely uses any ram. Its 32 bit lol. Max 4GB of RAM. Though half of that is your video cards Ram. So it can only utilise 2GB of system memory. And the most I've seen this game use is 1.4GB all at once. So well below its 2GB limit. On average it uses around 800MB. You only need 4GB and you can run any 32 bit game lol.

Why don't game devs ever go 64 bit >> but alright thanks for that knowledge.

Thanks for this 1920x1080 working above 60 fps on the benchmark depth of feild is off shodows i love this game, most setting are high except buildings thats low and particle effects. unit size is ultra love big battles too much to reduce unit size. Unit detail is very high. Just wish my system could handle extreme in 1920x1080 without slowing down or juntering. Vsinc is very good I've found for XFire but it limits it to 60 fps max.

It doesen't seem to matter seige warfare is pants on medium unit size two in huge battles the graphics are just not as fluid as they are on normal battles shame.

There's still a shockingly large amount of people using 32bit windows. Of course a 64bit game is very likely to crash. A lot of the stuff CA wanted to do required 64bit. There's a lot of half done stuff in the game that couldn't be done. A lot of it would use more ram which would require 64bit. CA must have been devastated. They couldn't make 2 versions because they wanted to add extra things or expand on current things. Which would make multiplayer would be incompatible between 32 and 64 bit. They didn't want to do 64 bit only as that would mean a bunch of people couldn't play at all.

Making a game 64bit only just isn't done still. Very few games are and all those games have complaints from 32 bit users.

CA may make their next game 64 bit. I've pestered them enough lol. If they do they will probably warn people way way beforehand. They kinda have to so people can upgrade their systems.

All 64 bit games have a big purple and orange warning box saying "Game requires 64 bit windows to run". I've only seen 1 game on steam with that. That was chivalry: deadliest warrior. All games need to be 64 bit only to force people to upgrade from XP or vista. Windows 9 release will mean a lot of people will go to 64bit. That looks promising windows 9 windows 8 never did.
