There are many religions throughout history, paganism and other polytheistic religions are represented because this game attempts to be historically accurate. At this point in time Christianity didn't exist yet, not to bash them as I am christian. I'm confused as to where you say they are praying to demons, as they are always praying to whatever gods they worshiped at the time.
