[Linux] Graphics Still Terrible
Just tried the update and still getting horrid graphics on Very High Settings. Not very impressed...

Indeed... I've uninstalled the game and will try later. Since we have no debug information the only hope is wait for the devs to fix the game for linux... But still I'm angry because the game is tagged as a linux game and until now I haven't read any comment from a linux user telling that everything is working fine for him...

Yeah I wish they would remove the Linux icon form the store and put this back into beta state, since that is what it feels like.

Is this game going to still be updated?

I am playing it under Linux Mint 16 (petra) x64. The graphics are not as good as War Thunder, but they're not bad, either. I do get a seemingly random crash to desktop when I complete a mission and click "Continue" at the pilot screen. I just re-load/re-play and progress. I've not gotten it on the same mission and sometimes it does not happen, so it seems random.

Other than those quirks (and the config ALWAYS forgetting I want Y-axis inverted) the game runs fine. Best combat flight sim I've played on linux. Only one, really.

I have an Intel i7-4770K, nVidia 760GTX, Asus Sabertooth Z77 mobo, 16GB RAM, Kernel 3.11.0-12-generic. Running Xfce version of Mint 16.

I suspect the game was written against Direct3D and the OpenGL port necessary to Linux was not the same quality. It would be possible to test this theory by selecting OpenGL in Windows or Mac.

Anything new on this?

To be fair I get terrible stuttering and graphic chops on Windows too. Not much support for any of it unfortunately.

We are still working on the fixing the port for Linux. I know it takes much longer than originally anticipated for which we are all very sorry :(. But I hope that I will soon have a good news for you...

I just bought the game and like people have said, there's a number of issues. For me I can't open the settings (even with some of the workarounds) and forced to play in a window. I look forward to the patch, have been wanting to play a WW2 dogfighting game for a while.

What's hard for me to understand is how can the devs prepare a port of the last Air Conflict game (Vietnam) without get the first one working correctly... I'm sorry but for me it isn't very respectful to those who bought this first game and can't even play it after months waiting...

I have never been able to play this game on Linux. Bought it likes 6 months ago. Crashes on startup. Nvidia GTX660.

Be great if we could get a refund for this port

Why don`t you just run windows? Partition your hard drive and have both. That`s what I do. The game runs fine.

I haven't had windows since 2009 and there are probably a lot of people like me who no longer have access to it. It's kind of beside the point anyway, a lot of people (like me) bought this game because it had Linux support, which argueably it doesn't really have right now. We didn't buy a game to play it on windows.

Yes, the problem isn't running it on windows or not, this game runs fine on wine under linux, the problem is that they sold it as a linux game and this isn't exactly true, since the game doesn't work proprely for most users or doesn't work at all for some users. At this point it isn't just a software problem but a commercial one too. Specially because the game is still beeing sold as a linux supported game! That's the real problem here, terryparker1952.
