YoYo Games Steam Workshop Competitions
To celebrate the release of GameMaker: Studio on Steam and to inspire our new community we are announcing that over the coming months we will be running a series of Game Making competitions.

Months October, November and December of 2012 will each have a competition where the best game, decided by both the Steam GameMaker: Studio community and YoYo Games, will win $1000 (USD)!

See the Announcements sections for more details.

18. In order to participate in the competition you must create a game using GameMaker: Studio and upload it to the GameMaker: Studio Steam Workshop.
Says so in the Announcements thread. So far I've been doing just fine using the Free version, which everyone says it's very limited. It sorta is, but I can still find a solution for a good bunch of them.

Looking forward to participate, myself. I don't have a whole lot of time in my hands, but I'm doing the best I can regardless, and most of all enjoying it. Best of luck to other participants!

I plan on entering the November contest, I'm working on a game for NaNoWriMo so I may as well submit it here, too.

That sucks! 18 or older to win money for a good game? That's total crap!

unfortunately the game tag for november is not in the update, so we can only submit our November entries when they update GMS again. eish

If only the software would actually work.
I just got the web collection, and testing the games will run for a few seconds, then get slower and slower. Until I can't even move my mouse. And that was just testing demo's that came with it.

My brother tried it on a couple computers with the same thing happening. He says there's a bad memory leak.

I sure hope this gets fixed. Otherwise how will anyone be able to join this contest?

As far as I heard and read so far, The Steam version of game maker still has some issues being worked on. The non-steam versions seems to work though. I just recently activated the key on steam as well cuz' the workshop maks the releasing/browsing a bit less tedious.

It's interesting to observe when perusing the list of competition game entries that many/most of them are incomplete or proof of concepts.

I would love to see a future competition for completed works only. These games would be judged not only for their concept, but also for their completeness, production values, performance and quality assurance testing.
