I hate being The Idea Guy(tm), but...
I've got plenty of game ideas. I can code, and I've used an old, OLD version of Game Maker before (v5.3a to be exact) so while I do plan to refresh myself via tutorials I feel I could work on something.

My big problem is I can't draw for beans. Nor make music, or do voice acting, or anything else that needs to be done.

So I'm looking for people who can fill the other roles (though to be blunt, other programmers would be a help too - it never hurts to have a fresh pair of eyes look at your code - even if it is mostly drag-and-drop "coding"). Want to make a game but don't know where to start? Post here, or better yet, pop on over to my stream[thebigdawg.webs.com] (because we're always looking for more traffic) and maybe we can brainstorm, toss ideas around, get working on something.

but what do you want to make? a 2D or 3D game? i heard you 3D on gamemaker as wel and i can draw and have some idea's for myself but have no skill in code...

I suppose it'd be easier to start with a 2D game. I wasn't aware GameMaker could do 3D now.

Honestly from what I have read 3D games don't get that much more complex in comparison to 2D. 'All you do is start using matrices instead of grids." Although I have yet to make a 3D game but my 2D game isn't very difficult for the most part.

2D games are (in most cases) actually easier to start with, both for programmers (since the fact that you're adding another axis to your game gives it a whole new level of complexity - but also allow you to explore new gameplay options) and the artists (making a 3d model is something that can be far more time-consuming than drawing a 2D sprite, for example).

Hey don't forget about projections, frustrum clipping, binary space paritioning, portals, octrees, transformations, skeletal animation systems, index buffers, lighting, ok I'm done for now :P

big dawg, that's always held me back too. what you need to do (what i should do if i ever get around to it) is use placeholders. it's that simple. if you don't want to use stuff off google images then just use triangles, circles and squares for everything, get it coded so the gameplay is there and then go from there with a request to an artist on deviantart or something. same can be said for sound and music, http://www.soundsnap.com/ is a good place to start.

Completely wrong. I didn't realize that GMS supported 3D, but I assure you that if you make games in a real programming language, 3D is almost always much more complex in math, code, so on and so forth. This all depends on the levels of abstraction, of course, but I'm talking about a typical scenario.

Thank you, but while I am aware of placeholders, it doesn't change the fact that I'd actually like to get a team of talents together if I can. Mostly because we could all bounce ideas off one another. Fresh pairs of eyes and whatnot too.

I'm interested. I can help with game design and music. I've got a Game Boy and Commodore 64 if you like 8-bit music. I've also played with pixel art. Let's see what we can get going! :D
