.gmx
I use this program for a class, but the class uses gamemaker 7.0, which reads only .gmk files. This version exports as .gmx.... Any way to convert it?

Have you tried importing the .gmk file into GM:S?

you can import gm7 and gm8 to gmk using gm studio.but you have to re-code some things tho.

I believe -- as I have done it a day or so ago -- that you can do this...

1. Create a new (empty) project.
2. Go to an OS (probably Windows) file system window (Explorer in the Windows case).
3. Click and drag the .gmk file onto the resources panel (whatever its called, I think that's it).
4. GMS will auto-magically suck the 'k' file into the resource tree of the empty project.
5. Do a project Save and give it a name, etc.

Now, not being an expert on GMS by any stretch, one gotcha I can anticipate with your class is that this is likely a one-way operation. That is, you won't be easily able to "share back" (or turn in homework/projects) in the 'k' format as GMS will use the 'x' format. Again, I don't know that fur sure as I am a newbie, but I wouldn't be surprised if this gotcha was an issue.

If all you need to do is import and do your thing, however, this process should work.
