Half Minute Hero: Super Mega Neo Climax Ultimate Boy

I must be an idiot, but how do I erase my data?
So I played the first couple missions, then I decided I didn't like the name I gave my character. I went to the menu to change his name, but discovered the name changing feature seems to be absent from this version, and I can't for the life of me figure out how to start a new game. Help? :S

A reinstall would likely do it.

Didn't work for me.

Disable steam backup
Go to "C:\Program Files\Steam\userdata\[random number]\214830 and delete the contents there
restart your game and create new profile
reactivate steam cloud and say transfer files from your computer to the cloud

Whenever I try to play the game with the cloud deactivated, it crashes when it's trying to load the main menu, so I can't create new save data. They really need to fix this, why would anyone think players would never want to start the game over?

After some more tooling around, I found this:

Not a very graceful method, but it worked.

Deleting the 214830 folder worked for me. Also disabled cloud. When deleting make sure Steam isn't running.

Thank god I'm not the only one who wants to start over.

I had that same problem too. However, Phoenix923 & aRes' solutions does work. I just tried it and I was able to start a new file which allowed me to rename my hero. Thanks for the help.

In your games library, right-click Half-Minute Hero and click on "Properties." From there, go to the "Updates" tab and there should be a checked box at the bottom that says "Enable Steam Cloud synchronization for Half-Minute Hero." Uncheck that and you're good to go.

None of these suggestions worked for me....HMH will crash at the title screen if the Steam Cloud is disabled. I tried Fandango's method but it also did not work. I managed to get the saved file to show 0 bytes, but Steam never alerted me to a discrepency of file sizes, and it automatically stored the 0 byte file on it's servers. So not only will the game crash when the cloud is off, now if the cloud is on it CONVENIENTLY downloads the 0 byte save file, which obviously crashes when I try to load it. Any other ideas??

Nothing worked for me either. That fact that you _still_ can't rename yourself 5 months later is a very poor show on the developers part.

I couldnt get it to work either and then I just thought about it and found a simple solution. Start the game, this will sync your files. The game wont actually load the files until you get past the title screen, so delete the save folder now, and then it will try to load them, find nothing, and create a new save and then it will sync the new save to the cloud when you close the game. Enjoy.
