Patch Sep 4, 2012 @ 5:01am
Rage Highlights of The Basement Collection
UPDATE!
The patch now adds Bonus Content if you complete A.V.G.M. on Inferno mode 16 times. Yeeeeah, about that... could I just give you a dollar Ed?
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Triachnid's 5th Maggot - This is balls hard, for any of you who have done it, still attempting or unaware, you'll understand. As you float your way from the second platform, it's a juggling act from the moment you fly off, tether your web, and tightrope back to safety. x_x

Spewer's Pillow Fort - With a little luck, and multiple, upon multiple, failed experiments later, Pillow Fort will become a rage moment unless you're an MLG Spewer player. If such a thing exists. You would think a Pillow Fort wouldn't be the subject to your hatred.

Aether's Folk - Bumping into these little guys, literally in the case the Lost Bird, is a pain, EVEN WITH A MAP, thankfully Steam's new game hubs saved the day, and brought me into a community of fine gamers such as yourself ;D

Time ♥♥♥♥'s Enter the Unknown - WTF! I can just picture Troll level designers putting as many friggen spikes, portals, and keys on the same map. Maker of "Fun & Crazy", I will find you and hunt you down.

A.V.G.M. - So I put a controller on Turbo for this one, was this really necessary tho Edmund, :,(
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
ADDED:
Honorable Mentions by the Basement Community:
Spewer's - The Crux
Meat Boy's - We Reach & Speed Demon (who do you mean by "we"? Def not Dr. Fetus)
Time ♥♥♥♥'s - Stagger (brilliant puzzle imo)
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Got a rage moment, or agree with one up top?

I agree with all points. I'd like to add Meat Boy was a pain in the rear before I used Joy2Key. After that, I breezed through most levels.

Definitely, Xpadder is also a blessing, can't see myself doing this with a keyboard

I did it with a keyboard. Didnt have that many problems either.

Either way, Pillow Fort was definitely rage inducing. It was only through a stroke of pure luck that I managed to clear it. I am now stuck on Reflux Redux. All those spikes makes my PC lag something fierce.

Oh I see, you may wanna try rebooting the game or turning off the background in settings, the level itself is pretty straightfoward tho, I can assure you

The backgroud is already off. I Turned it Off as Soon as I found out I could.
It still lag because the spikes are animated, and there are so many of them on this stage.

The Lag really screws me over, its hard to aim and shoot propperly with it, and in this stage, melting the wrong block can cause you to be stuck and force you to restart.

Edit: Beat it. Slow and Steady Win the race. was still quite annoying though.

Pillow fort was the most tedious thing for sure, but the last level was exasperating as well; Even if i managed to keep EVERY SINGLE DROP of puke, it took me quite a lot of tries to realize you need to start puking as soon as you take off.

Pillow fort was actually quite easy if you do it the right way. Now Over and out was nightmarish. And so was Enter the Unknown. So many unfinishable levels, it's terrible. Only got 2 Triachnid cheevos left in the collection, and the lag is seriously getting to me.

Ok, platinum God. I have to say, Triachnid wasn't that bad after all. Game is great, and levels are so small you can breeze through it in no time.

In Over and Out, there was a strategy to it and it isn't that hard when you get the strategy right. Pillow Fort is pure luck, based on if the spew will help you or screw you over and if you can actually make it without raging like hell.

Also, if you know how to do it "the right way", why not tell us then, cause we probably don't know what you mean by "the right way".

It's hard, but once you get the map sortof linked out from direction and those rings, it gets easier. Best when you are at one of them than go a certain direction to the next one from there. Also helps if the planets align correctly like in the map.

A.V.G.M. is a joke game, but really, auto clicker is the best way to play this game without spending days on it with broken hands.

Enter the Unknown is hell. If your lucky with the levels you get, you can make it. Hell, i even got through the Unknown without any skips and luckily got the achievement. However, i hate the people who make impossible levels in the Unknown.

Just trying to beat that level with the 5th maggot is hard enough. Most of the time, i somehow accidentally grab the egg instead of the web, i drop it without knowing and i lose. It's horrible.

But the worse and hardest one in this ENTIRE collection is Pillow Fort. With every level before this, there is a way to do it because there's a strategy or a trick to it. This level, however, is pure luck and a pain! Just like Unknown, you have to be extremely lucky with the spew and the way you use it. So far, i've tried the level over 100 times and no such luck. Only once did i get near it, but sadly, the spew went hollow in seconds by the time i touched it and i fell in the spikes! I HATE THIS DAMN LEVEL!

Very well. First, you stand on the very edge and make a cloud as far as you can without spending too much. When you feel you can land comfortably, do it. After that, float up so you don't fall right away, eat the higher part of the cloud you are in (don't overdo it, though) and start making a cloud platform near lower spikes. If you do it correctly, you will live (be sure to press up the entire time so that inertia doesn't get you). After that it's only the matter of spending the rest of your cloudspew to build a viable bridge to the door. It might not even reach it as you jump out of it from some angles.

By the way, patch is quite correct that Steam Hub saved the day with this game. Seing there are no Steam forum, it was revalatory to find so much condensed usefulness here. I relay my thanks to everyone here for being so helpful.

Pillow Fort and Enter The Unknown are without a doubt the two most difficult obstacles in this collection, IMO. Especially Enter The Unknown which, one you pass the halfway mark, has some of the most masochistic level design I think I've ever experienced. Doesn't help that you can't save your progress and need to restart from square one every time you quit.

Honorable mention goes to level 3-10 in Meat Boy, "We Reach". The majority of the jumps in that level are simple, but there are two blocks in particular that are high enough to give you a lot of trouble if your timing is off by even the slightest amount. Even with a 360/JoyToKey combo that one was hell to pull off.
