Unplayable on Mac
UPDATE: I just tried playing this on an external monitor, and it's broken there, too. So I think it's a Mac or Mavericks thing, not a Retina-specific problem. I see a field of white with some black shapes, and I can move around and hear footsteps, but otherwise the screen is just white. If I hit Esc the screen goes black and no menu comes up.

----

When you run the game on a MacBook Pro with Retina display (native resolution of 2880x1800), the game has severe graphical issues and is unplayable. I had to force-quit the game (which in turn messed up my mouse sensitivity back in OS X ... it was way too high).

I got sound and saw some particle effects in the lower part of the screen, but this is what it looked like: https://www.dropbox.com/s/zdqrov9cwevrxsd/ThirtyFlightsRetina.png

I'm on a Late 2013 MacBook Pro with Mavericks 10.9.1.

I'm getting the exact same problem on a 1680x1050 native 2010 MacBook Pro with Mavericks 10.9.1

I am also getting the same issues as all of you. Hoping the devs can figure something out.

Same thing here, some help would be nice.

I could work around the issue (2012 15'' rMBP, OS X 10.9.2) by installing Cody Krieger's gfxCardStatus utility and setting the GPU policy to "Integrated Only" before starting the game. The game seems to start up and play without issues with this workaround.

Thanks lorentey, that worked!

In case anyone is still following this, I ran across an oddity. I had this issue happen and had to hard power off my mac to get it to close. When it came back up, it asked if I wanted to open all the windows back up and I said yes. It opened TFOL without Steam being logged in, so I wonder if it is something to do with the Steam wrapper? Either way, going to try the integrated graphics chip. Don't want to drag out my PC.

Nevermind, gfxCardStatus won't let you go integrated only with an external monitor plugged in, so that rules that out. Oh well, another notch on the PC users' 'I hate Mac' belt I suppose.

FWIW, although I had the same problems folks report above on OS X, it played fine with PlayOnMac (an easy-to-use Wine front-end).
