Demo plays but I can't see anything!
When i go into story mode the screen is black except for the character shadows on the floor and the effects are still visible

Do you have NVidia 3D Vision, or even just an NVidia card? I actually found this discussion because I was having the same problem. At least I think so. I could see the background with shadows on the flooor where the characters were supposed to be, but the screen wasn't actually black. Anyway, since there wasn't an answer, I tried a few things. Disabling 3D Vision cleared it right up. I had previously attempted to play in 3D, but almost went blind from the insuing wonkiness and turn the 3D off on the TV. Apparently that wasn't enough. When NVidia 3D Vision is mucking up the works, it doesn't matter if you have a 3D screen or not. This may not be your problem, but it's worth checking out:

Go into the NVidia Control Panel (there should be an icon in the systray) and find "Set up stereoscopic 3D" in the tree on the left. Uncheck the "Enable stereoscopic 3D" box. It worked for me anyway. Good luck.

I don't have nvidia 3D vision but i do have nvidia phys x, would that effect the or do i need nvdia 3d vision?

No, you don't need 3D Vision. It won't work with 3D vision, but if you have a 3D capable NVidia card then it's likely that you have the option I mentioned above in your control panel. NVidia uses the same software for entire generations of chips. They don't have separate drivers for each model. That means if you have a GTX, GT or GS 200-600 series card, even one without 3D capabilities, then you probably have 3D Vision installed as part of the package. Check the NVidia Control Panel. Follow the steps above. If it isn't there, then my solution won't help you.

It also never hurts to make sure you have all your drivers up to date, so check the NVidia site for updates. Try right-clicking on the shortcut and choose "Run as administrator". Uninstall the game and redownload/install with no other programs or downloads running. These are all just generic fixes that are always good to try for random video-related game issues.

Out of curiosity, do you know which NVidia card or chip you have? Is it a laptop or a desktop, PCI Express card, old PCI card, on-board chip?

Nevermind I don't think I have an NVIDIA chip. The chip mylaptop is using is an Intel(R) Graphics Media Accelarator 3150. I thought I had NVIDIA because under unstall programs theres NVIDIA PhysX. My laptop probably just can't handle the game which is sad because it's not that old.

you may not be able to run the game with that
looking at the internet this chip can barely run youtube in HD (hardware acceleration enabled)
and Quake 3 is the best the chip can do, crysis won't run

Frreesia is a simple game, but it does require current shaders as there are lots of flashy effects
your GPU supports directx9 and shader 3.0 but I guess just barely

you can try updating your GPU drivers
and reinstall directx redistributables
try and run the dirt 2 demo, sometimes that will fix directx issues

I'm having a similar issue. Bought this game for my mom, and her laptop meets the recommended specs. Not sure what to do here. Also, not an nvidia chip. Intel hd
