P.S.
Downloading ROMs for MAME and other emulators is considered illegal and by absolutely no means are considered free games, which I highly doubt Steam will take kindly of. So I'd watch what you say if I was you. :3
"This game is actually free" Did I just read those exact words from you correctly? Please me tell me where in the heck did you get the notion that ETHER VAPOR, both the original and Remaster, were free games. As far as I now, Edelweiss -- and many doujin game developers -- have been selling their games (besides the original Fairy Bloom, which became freeware at point) at Comiket which later gets sold through retailers like Melonbooks, Toranoana, DLsite, et cetera. I very well doubt they would openly give a game like this out for free unless they feel like doing so, which I doubt is gonna happen anytime soon. The only doujin games that I know of that actually went freeware are Fairy Bloom (NOT Fairy Bloom Freesia), The Chaste Full-metal Maiden -Leiria- and its remake, Lethal Application, and Patriot Dark.
Also, just because some games are released as freeware doesn't immediately labled them as crap. Wanna see my point? Look at Cave Story and La-Mulana. B)
this is definitely not bullet hell as others are saying
in terms of shmups it is the most difficult i have played, but beneath bullet hells i have played in terms of difficulty for sure
this game definitely crushes raiden, gradius, r-type, jamestown, sine mora, etc. for shmup difficulty
Second, it appears that this game is very forgiving to newbies and simultaneously very unforgiving to veterans aiming to get high scores. I know I enjoyed the game as a newbie to shmups, but I've also heard people say that it's extremely hard, and I think the reason for this is that it gives extra shields and continues as you play but its baseline scoring design is very tough.
The bullets in this game are a bit hard to see at times, yes. But overall, I enjoyed the game enough that I'm going to go and buy a gifting copy of it right now, actually.
only real downsides in the game to me though
Otherwise I positively recommend this game.
