Build notes
The multiplayer "deathmatch" games (Ranked and Unranked multiplayer modes) have been updated with a randomized start. This serves two purposes:
  • Make the game more interesting by forcing players to make choices at the start of each game, rather than rely on a formulaic build order for the early part of the game.
  • Propel the game past the incredibly dull early stage, where players on both sides sit idle waiting for gold to accumulate.

Previously, the game always began with 200 gold and 0 battle points (BP) for each player. Now, each player starts with:
  • 200 to 500 gold
  • 0 to 100 BP

The starting values for gold and BP are determined randomly and independently of each other -- in other words, you might have lots of gold and a little BP one game, but a little gold and lots of BP the next game.

Of course, players on both sides will receive the same amounts!

While we think this makes the game more interesting and exciting, you'll need to hit the ground running now. Bot games (Meat vs. Metal mode) are not affected by this change, so you can practice there with a little bit more time to think.

Please note, in any update, there is a small chance of files failing to download properly. If you have any trouble, please Verify Integrity first before reporting a bug.

Thanks for the update.
I was so confused/excited when I joined an Airmaggeddon match with 500 gold, then confused/disappointed when I joined Dusk til Death with 200. Thanks for clearing things up!!
This certainly changes things up lots. Just had a game and was like "wtf?" at the start. This will definitely take some adjusting to, but I think will be a change for the better, as the start of each game was essentially the same and also a little slow.
Cool, can you please announce all updates in future though? The news will get to more people reminding them this game is still being developed and improved and might help to bring more people into multiplayer.

You're right, that's a good point, thanks. I'll see about getting privileges to make official announcements. :-) [SVS] Whyttrash can do these, and he had offered to post about the update, but I had already written this up.
I think since the last announcement, we've updated the game three times: on July 11th, 16th, and 28th. Maybe we could post some sort of roll-up of these changes.

Thanks for the update devs, I will try to read these release notes more often, I swore for the first time today when i sent 7 on armageddon and wondered why I had so much gold remaining. As you guys would say "It was a real bummer!"
it would be a great idea to have some sort of ingame warning about a new update with fundamental game changing things.
i lost some good amount of points simply to the fact that i dont know about the new update and his changes... :/
An in-game notification would be great, yeah. Especially a real-time message. I've wanted to warn people when I'm shutting down the servers for an update. I post a warning on the forums, but it's unlikely anyone would actually see it in time.
wow this is a crazy development!!!! sure to inspire thought at each round and eliminate old worn strategies!

Since the most recent update, I've found the graphics aren't as smooth and my game is constantly freezing/crashing. Has anyone else had issues?
