Cannot Start Game
This problem has been happening for 3 days now, nothing I do seems to fix it. According to my friends on steam I can't get enough of Divine Divinity and have been playing it for 70+ hours straight when in actual fact, I've played all of 19 mins of it! Suddenly steam has started to believe that Divine Divinity IS being played and therefore I can't delete local content, nor can I start the game and end it. I have tried restarting steam, using task manager to close both steam and DD. Nothing...

Has anyone else had this problem? Am I going to have to contact (dare I say it) steam support to try and sort this? I want to play this but can't D:

I can also play any other game just fine, which has confused me even more

You can open the game from main folder too, try that. "div.exe".
Open task manager and in "process" section look for divine divinity process (can be named little differently, like "div.exe" for example), right mouse button on it and click "End Proccess Tree". Closing proccess tree is way more better way to be sure application is indeed turned off.
Reseting internet connection, computer also might help.
If above won't help, manually delete all DD files from steam folder (remember to do backup copy, you can never be sure if you won't need it) and try deleting local content from steam after.

Thanks for the help Pie, I had already done the end process and end process tree to no avail. Resetting the computer did sort it tho :) Now I can play DD yay
