Suggestion for challenges to better learn what went wrong ...
Well I went through all challenges by now and in some of them I would have appreciated a bit more helpful information after I fail, and when I still do.

It would be helpful e.g. if - after failure - the left info window (about how many points where collected and how many gates where passed) would remain visible until I start over or quit. I dropped out many times during Looping, Barrel-Roll or Cuban-Eight and would have been less frustrated could I have checked how far I had made it ;-)

Also it may help to be able to see why I failed. In cuban eight I used to drop out always near the end and had no idea what went wrong ...

And by now I still have no real understanding how to do a good barrel roll ...

Just some ideas, as this sim really fascinates me.

Thanks and cheers to the developers ...

for a good barrel roll, I think it's important not to enter the roll with full throttle....go in at 80% and throttle up the moment you need the energy to make tight curves.

Well, still the Barrel Roll is the hardest challenge for me.

To improve my learning experience I changed the length and radius of the settings and start to understand how it could work ...

If you are interested how to change this yourself:

File: "C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\aerofly FS\game\challenges\aerobatics_pitts.tcd"

find the settings for barrel-roll and change the settings like in the example below:

<[string8] [todo] [countdown_airborne]>

<[string8] [todo] [combo_line]
<[tmvector3d] [PositionIn] [ 0 000 0]>
<[tmvector3d] [PositionOut] [ 0 1200 0]> <---- 1200 was in original 500
<[float64] [RollIn] [0]>
<[float64] [RollOut] [360]>
<[float64] [BarrelRadius] [80]> <--- 80 was in original 50
<[int32] [Subdivision] [13]>
>

<[string8] [todo] [gate_finish]
<[tmvector3d] [Position] [0 1500 0]> <---- 1500 was in original 800
<[float64] [Heading] [0]>

well thank you for your find, allthough I will hardly use it...I use the sim's gliders, mostly :)

I learned performing barrelrolls in a WW2 combat flightsim (Il2 Sturmovik), where it was a great way to get behind an enemy that was on my tail, while still maintaining energy.
Guess the need to survive the duel, added that extra bit of adrenaline...a need that is absent in aeroflyFS, unfortunately.
Untill we get multiplayer.
