Aerofly FS Development Status
From the ipacs.de forum, exciting stuff!!

"Dear aerofly FS Users,

we know, lots of you out there are eager to know what our roadmap for a successor to aerofly FS is and if we continue to develop a new version at all.

Well, the short answer is yes, we are working on the next big version of aerofly FS. But to take aerofly FS to the next level we have to work on quite a few things and we also have to redesign some core elements. But this all takes quite some time.

This post is intended to give a rough overview on whats planned for the next version and what we are currently working on. We might periodically update this post with an updated status or new screenshots, however this information is by no means complete and we reserve the right to remove or add some features.

And please don't ask us for any further details. We would like to put our focus on the development. We will release the next version when we decide, that its worth it. We think too much software these days is released way too early just to hold a planned release date. Our intention is to develop a great flight simulator and this is more important to us than providing updates on a regular basis! We also would like to keep our high quality level, e.g. fast loading times, finely detailed aircraft and easy of use even for the novice user.

So here are the features we put our main focus on right now:

•New aircraft with more cockpit functionality
•Support for navigation features like ILS, VOR, ...
•Support for larger areas, e.g. we will switch to a new coordinate system
•Support for dynamic time of day changes
•Multiplayer support
•Open aerofly FS for developers so they can add their own content"

awesome

That looks SO amazing! I love how they're busy with bigger aircraft as this would mean more countries and advanced aircraft systems. Hopefully auto-pilot :D Very promising screenshots!

They are talking about the next update, right? Not a new game that I have to buy again?

Other than that: awesome! Dynamic time of day AND multiplayer support!

I am wondering this as well now! Hoping the Steam dev on the forum can reply to your question :)

I would guess given the scope of what they're planning with the new version, that it would be a new game rather than an update. We can only hope it will be sold at a reduced rate to owners of the original Aerofly FS when it's released, or there is some kind of pre-order scheme for existing owners.

This game was *way* to expensive for me to buy a new edition anytime soon. I really do hope this is just an update.

First congratuations for this awesome sim! But a few wishes from a enthusiastic glider pilot for the update or next level:
- Please enable a post flight analysis (e.g. flying distance, max alt, max climb rate, max sink rate, etc...)
- Please model some new gliders or maybe also a hang glider (would be great!)
- Improve the thermal physics, i.e. building of thermals should be according to the ground texture.

I certainly agree to your last point....I'd love to see thermals building up over towns, or rockfaces of mountain-slopes that have been in sunlight for hours.

Yeah exactly, another point is that the Cumulus clouds should only occur were thermals are present.

That means that thermal- and clouds-settings should be coupled in some way, and not being set seperately as it is now.
And even better, also coupled to wind-force.

No more absurd glider-conditions, because player has the power to create them (like extreme thermals in foggy low-cloud conditions).
I do prefer some influence on the weather in general, though...I don't want to startup a simulator, only to find out I can't sail today because all airtraffic is closed :P

Who knows, maybe one day we'll get a fully dynamic weather engine.

Wow I can't believe you said that, just idle chat I guess LOL! This gives it away, definitely not an update!
