Why I wouldn't buy this game.
The magic games are like iPhones they make a new one every few months

Yeah, if you don't like new content, then best to stick with a game that never has any updates or new releases.

That's like saying: "Why buy the iPhone 5S when you can wait for the iPhone 6?" You can technically wait for the iPhone Infinity, but next year Apple will just release the iPhone Infinity +1. Just buy the game and be happy with it instead of waiting for the latest and greatest which will never happen.

I remember a while back my friend telling me how the physcial card game of Magic works (because I a n00b) and it's all about bringing out the latest stuff to give the Wizards of Coast a steady income. Cards come out and are valid for a set period of time and they become invalid after a while when the next decks come out.

That means a long time fan has a huge horde of cards they can't use again unless they duel from that very same year or something.

This is true for tournament standard rulesets, in which you are only allowed to you the latest core set (aka. 2014) and the 2 latest blocks for it, (Return to Ravnica, Gatecrash..etc..) most Magic players do play casual however, in which you are allowed to use any card you want to. :)

But now to the point, i think this game is of great value if you start to think about the costs of the real game, for example, by buying this game for 5€ you get access to 2 sealed decks, this would cost around 40€ (At least in my region) to do with the real cards, and you also get the access to play with a ton of players online, so yeah, putting 5-10€ for that every year comes a lot cheaper than paying 40-50€ a month to play in the sealed leagues of the real game.

Couldn't agree with you more, hence why I have only bought into the virtual versions of the game because they are after all much less of an investment and a chance to learn the rules in an interactive environment from the makers themselves. Maybe if I can REALLY get into it I might splash out on some physical cards, but for now virtual versions work best for me.

Magic is an expensive hobby. XD

I like to think of it as a $20 yearly super expansion pack. The new decks are usually worth it and the gimmick mode is always fun.

No. New content isn't good for the sake of it. This game has the worst and most boring decks in the entire series. That is a bad thing. If it was actually one game that let you keep old decks then it might be a different story.

I would agree but... god damn, it's 10€. 5€ now. I got more hours of gameplay throught this game than I would ever get from most modern FPS games. I can deal with this, frankly.

So now I picture the OP sitting in an empty house as he wont buy anything because pretty much everything will have better versions in the future. Even the pc you used to place this message, cant be your pc ofcourse. Why buy a pc that will be better if you buy next month?
dsagent Oct 7, 2013 @ 5:18am
You get a free card with this one that you can sell online for more money than you bought the game for.

OP = failure.

Also I kept my card since this game is cheap anyways.

Pretty much this. For $5, you can have a game that will be relevant for at least a year not to mention a Scavenging Ooze promo; a $15 card that sees play in all formats.
