Magic 2014
What to buy?
I want to buy a DLC pack to play online but I don't know which is the best. My friends normally use Chant of the Mul Daya or Guardians of light and I want to crush them as hard as I can, help?

I think you can handle both of those decks with starter decks. I would play an aggro deck against CoTM; maybe AG? With GoL, I think you need to play a deck with lots of removal or direct damage, so I would probably use Deadwalkers or FW.

With CoTM and GoL, I think the strategy against them is to kill your opponent quickly before they bring the big guys out.
DON'T BUY ONE YOU BELLEND
The unfortunate reality is that Avacyn's Glory (AG) and Deadwalkers (DW) from the base set are still the top tier, and DLC decks failed to shift the balance in a noticeable way. So, if you want to win a lot (as opposed to having fun), play those two. However, opponents sticking to AG and DW are usually disliked for obvious reasons.

If you want to have the most fun, unlock all the cards, tune all the decks to your liking, and set it to Random.

in 1v1 situations I find the fairy deck better than Avacyn and Liliana. For me in pure 1vs1:

1) ♥♥♥♥ to mischief(fairy deck): stop at 4 mana cards and deploy fairies in the most disruptive way, almost instant win except some mass removal stuffs where it is 50/50 if you play it right but it's harder. (dlc deck)
2) Avacyn glory: stop on 5 mana bombs and spare ressources if the enemy has a removal deck, like don''t put your cards randomly if far ahead.
3) Liliana: brainless stomp, Gerald op 1v1
4) Jayce: clearly not as good as the fairy deck now in aggro but still clearly powerfull and can snowball harder against many decks.
5) Ajani: it is decent but requires jedi mind tricks not to fail. Many ♥♥♥♥♥♥ cards in the pool to spoil your deck.
x) Chandra: The deck is completly fine 1v1 and 2v2 but I don't use to play it because I was familiar with old school magic direct damage spells, the one in the deck are pitifull compared to the oldies.

Decks to avoid 1v1 or very hard for a starting players:
- Slivoid: hard as ♥♥♥♥ to build and play well for a newcomer.
- Dracomancer: Needs full unlock and hard in 1v1 but powerfull.
- Dimir: great in 2v2 but clearly meh 1vs1
- Garruk: ahah, a bit random and weak against many things even if it can surprise rarely.
- Muldaya: unskilled deck and very random effects.

Decks of the extension:
- Dodge and Burn(8/10): can be built different ways and usefull in 1v1 and 2v2. Based on nukes, cheap card advantage semi counters and occasionnaly gamble creatures if you want.
- Samuraïs:(4/10): not a 1v1 beast at all, can be tweaked to something semi painfull against some decks.
- Exaltation deck(6/10): 3 colors, fun to play but weak against removals and against players who know the deck and know what to kill or not, what to sacrifice and when.
- Demon deck(7/10): Well against creatures or auras deck it will do the trick, so much anti creatures and things to end the game.

DLC decks:
- Rebound and Favor: Strong deck, but can be countered, if the enemy knows what to kill.
- Enchant deck: Based on a lot of drawing and a lot of medium or poor effect cards. I have a mixed opinion on this one but it can do some work.
- Black and blue: meh. The concept of the deck is lame but it can work or not, especially 1v1, like muldaya it is very random imho and muldaya has a big advantage over it.
- Fairy Deck: Very aggro-ish and tricky deck that does wonders in 1v1 and 2v2 agressive playstyles. A lot of disruptive flyers that have often flash with some very fluid and interesting counterspell mechanics.

Strategies in 1v1 against muldaya:
"I win" cards:Tooth and Nail with union(instant Zandicar + titan = death next turn if not real mass removal): 1 in the deck, costs 7/9(with union) / Kozilek Artican(2 creatures in play for the price of "1"): 2 in the deck, costs 9(7 with ulgin) / Forgot the name, a strong card(2in deck) for 2 that keep your attacking creatures taped for 1 turn and prevent damages, if he does that spam your hand because you'll be screwed anyway if not.
In deph: Kill the deers and oracles early if you can to kill him asap. If he starts having too much lands do not bother focusing muldayas anymore. Try to avoid facing Zandicar + Titan at same time hence you'll die in one turn from tokens. His mass removal costs 7(5 with ulgin) so either you kill him before he has enough mana or you make sure he hasn't it before puting your hand in play. Destroying Khaliri enchant can slow your oponent, anything that put a card on top of his library or make him discard will break his ballz. Try to hit hard early.
Recommended deck: Mischief(fairy), liliana, avacyn and aggro jayce are the best. You end his face in 4 turns end of story.

Strategies 1v1 against Ajani:
"I win" cards: Kor Dancers mainly
in deph: You need anti creatures to win, be aware of life link especially in 1vs1 situations. Best way to deal with auras is to bait cast of auras and killing while he is casting the aura, playing jayce for example you can put the creature back in his hand while he is casting the aura, puting it in the cimetary and making him having to recast the creature just for one blue. If he is good he will know the strengh of his cards and try to wait a bit before developping his hand. Ajani has just pacifism as anti creatures so it makes it really weak against the exaltation deck for example. Some of his auras scale well, but as long as you are efficient with your cards you may eventually end his day before he can finish you or leech enough back.
Recommended decks: Hall of champions(exaltation) is easy mode here, else anything with creature disruption, lords of the ♥♥♥♥(demon deck) is #1 in creature killing, having more removals than ajani can summon creatures is insta win on paper, some removals from the deck are "undodgeable", making you sacrifice the creature means it dies anyway. A well built avacyn can smoothly disrupt it enough to death.

In one of the deckpacks theres a deck called Unfinished business, it would be pretty lethal against chant.
unfinished business is maybe the worst choice you can have. Its removal doesn't really work on muldaya, requires a combo to do something relevant and in the long run muldaya outcarries it. Not to mention that some key cards work against you if 1v1 muldaya.
