Pretty Hilarious
Is it just me, or is Sonic Adventure 2 hilariously bad?

I mean, I know it's old, but a lot of games aged quite well, not Sonic Adventure 2 in my opionion though. I really did have a good laugh at all those combined elements:

- The terrible, forced in voiceacting
- That Sonic's speed really doesn't work in an semi-open 3D-world
- The bosses, who are a joke
- The really ugly level designs
- The pants-down-♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ plot

I always wanted to play this game, when I was a kid, but I didn't have a console. Now that I can finally play it, I have to say: did my standards just increase rapidly or is Sonic Adventures 2 really worse than the first one?

i never played sonic adventure 1 & 2 when they came out and played them on steam for the first time.I though sonic adventure 1 is a good/great game but i was really disapointed when i bought sonic adventure 2 because so many people say it is the best game ever etc.

If you think this aged badly who should play the first one 'cause wow..... that's all I can say

I remember the first one, actually, because it actually was released for PC and I remember the controls as much smoother and the story much better.

Might just be because I was much younger when I played it, though.

I beat it a few times back on the dreamcast like ten years ago lol.
Still enjoy the game, love my lil' chao<3
Also can't get the city escape theme out of my head now.

Honestly, i love these games. The one's that didn't age well for me though were Shadow the Hedgehog, and Sonic Heroes.

I loved playing this game on my Gamecube and I was really excited when this game came in the Sonic pack during the summer sale, but when I played it again I was really disappointed. It did not age well at all.

I think you're alone on this one, but I know for a fact that for many, this game is the best out of all the Sonic games, or at least one of the best. I have the game for GameCube, but I also have it on Steam now too, and I just love playing it. The controls are pretty good, though the camera could use some work. Voice acting? I think they're fine actually. You want a bad game? Sonic 2006.

Dont forget it is game for kids -_-

Oh, right, I forgot that we only give our kids utter crap to play, with horrible controls and terrible quality.

"For kids" is not an excuse for bad quality.

Like I said, I don't think the controls are bad, but even so, whether it's "for kids" or not isn't an excuse for a badly made game. There are plenty of "for kids" games out there perform well. To be fair though, while this this game is kid friendly, I think it's mostly teenagers and young adults that like Sonic games, like me.

Sonic Heroes gets pretty old quickly and Shadow the Hedgehog should go die in a ditch on fire, but I think that aside from SA2's god awful lip syncing, it's a great game, brilliant music (and let's not forget Crush 40!) and of course, Chao Garden just makes it :)

Most games were like this during that era... It was very rare you'd get a game with good acting, a better plot, better graphics/design and fully-functioning 3D controls... I think it's worse that the homing attack has never been fixed and a lot of the more recent games still have the bad acting, plots and graphics. That said, I still love the story in SA2, it's one of the best in the series. Anyway, a game that is still the most popular Sonic game and can still be played for hours on end clearly isn't as bad as some people think. Everything you've said here is really just opinions that you're touting as facts, I'm personally sick of people bashing on this game which was and still is amazing for its era in my opinion, I'm not just saying this because it's a personal favourite but because, as I said, it clearly did something right otherwise everyone would hate it as much as Sonic '06/Next Gen or Shadow the hedgehog. No offense but I bet you're one of these idiots I see everywhere that bashes on every old game without considering, guess what, it's OLD.

i have to add,i don't have a problem with the controll(except for that space level with knuckles and rouge),i thought the story was okay and i thought the voice acting aceptable(maybe because it isn't my mother-language).The only problem i had was the level design and some small stuff.

Come back when you've played more of the game m'kay then I can take this opinion more seriously. Instead of bashing the game try playing it more than 0.0 hours.

Time for some education!

Ok, kids, here's the deal. When you play in offline mode, Steam of course can't track what you're doing, so it doesn't add to your ingame hours. Since Sonic Adventures 2 is a pure singleplayer game, it's a good game to play when you don't have internet available, leading to it being played most, or in my case: always, when you're in offline mode.

As a side lesson: don't challenge your elders at cynicism, they win.
