Happens to me too, but not every match. Seems like a bug.
Host migration usually happens when someone in the match (the designated host) decides to leave, thus breaking up the entire thing.

Although mostly its just the system going nuts. I had an unlucky streak of matches yesterday evening, 4 losses in a row, I get to the 5th one which I am finally winning and I get the host migration.. AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARGH.

They need to just get rid of it. It NEVER works completely i.e. there will always be people kicked to lobby instead of migrated to new game, even when it does work for you it takes forever. We don't need it. Was better off in WfC without it.

This system is designed to work over Xbox Live and PSN between consoles where running dedicated servers on them, what is common in computer gaming, isn't possible. They either have dedicated servers company side or pull the cheapy move and use Peer 2 Peer hosting, where individual consoles host the games temporarily on demand.

The only solution is for them to drop the P2P for an actual server browser and release dedicated hosting suits like.. well, practically every other PC shooter multiplayer game.
But the likelihood of that ever happening, based on them dropping WfC PC on release, and only deciding to support FoC PC this time as a last minute whim, are very slim.
I disagree, i think P2P can be just fine so long as 1)You have plenty of players playing and 2) You don't have awful bugs that cripple it's functionality.

You cannot say either about FoC and that is the problem. Not enough people playing around the world to keep people regionally lag free and the netcoding is absolutely terrible. Would dedicated servers be better? Obviously yes, but what we have here is an example of utter incompetence when they can't even match the functionality that we had with War For Cybertron's P2P which was not so great itself.

You keep P2P on demand hosting, you keep the risk of Host Migration on lag outs and rage quits.

It's as simple as that.
yeah but if they would just get rid of the Host Migration feature it would be a lot better. Personally i would rather just get sent back to lobby so i can hop right into another match rather than wait 5 minutes for Host Migration to complete or not complete at all.

Most usualy do dump all connected players when the host is lost.

However, I for one would rather abolish it completely for proper server/connection. No Host Migrant. No game drops. No uneeded interuptions. Period.
I want to play and have fun. Not deal with some other players rage quit or bad luck of a crash or lag out.

Host Migration is way better then how it works in War for Cybertron.
There you got zipped back to the lobby menu when the host leaves.
At least your stats are saved if the migration did its job, which on my computer it usually does after the patch.

True, it is far from perfect.
But I prefer this over none.
There is always a possibility it can be improved with another patch.

No.. sorry but i can't let you get away with posting such a blatant inaccuracy. Host migration does not work properly at all, period. It successfully migrates an average of 1 to 3 players to a new host while the rest of players are booted to lobby. That is what hapens everytime. I have never seen it successfully migrate everyone like it should nor has anyone i know.

I play with a lot of friends and we have really put this game through it's paces. Host migration is severely broken. If they can fix it, great, if not then it needs to be removed because it is bleeding the playerbase of patience.

Personally i am not all that worried about 10 - 15 kills being lost to a host quit in the long run it is peanuts compared to the time lost staring at migration screens.

They fixed the melee bug pretty quick (for their pace), so I assume they are working on the network problems, too.

So have patience until the next patch and if the migration still sucks, you have the permission to rant.

Quite frankly, I'm getting pretty close to just giving up on this game, having to continuously put up with these issues.

I hope they take the Host Migration out, or fix it. It happens to me in Escalation as well. Takes 15 minutes of Host Migrations to get into a match.
me too I've got 6 Host Migration in 6 minutes!!
AHHHHHH
I am getting angry....
