Key rebind option?
Just played demo... Broke my fingers because of that annoyning WASD+Space. So, does full version of the game supports key reconfiguration option? If "no" - sorry, i will not buy this game.

Hi vodkins,

Currently there isn't a user interface to do this kind of rebinding, but you can edit a text file to change the keys around. For more information, take a look at these threads:

Nice! Why do i need to do such things for my money? This is strange... I am tired of those hand editions already in many indie games (most оf them are on Unreal engine, well known to me). Sorry, but this game not so interesting for me to do that again. If you are selling so-called finished product - you must do it finished in all terms. If anyone can rebind config by hands - why you still didn't made some fix or patch for it? Sorry for my anger, but i am really tired of tuning already buyed games. Those way i can pirate/torrent them for free and will not ask questions.

The gamepad support is weird, too... for some reason, right trigger is melee instead of the overwhelmingly customary X button.

The controls are that way so you can jump and melee at the same time.

@vodkins: I apologize for the manual config editing. If you know what kind of controls you would like I can write the config file for you. Unfortunately making an interface to rebind controls while supporting gamepads proved to be quite difficult.

deemen, this is not a big deal. I easy can edit config files (a lot of indie games dont have rebind option now). So you do not need to apologize:) And nobody asks for ingame interface. Just some way to remap keys. Visible and casual way. Maybe some sort of pre-game launcher, where you will hide simple notepad key-editing as small program?:)))

Thank you, I completely agree with you. Let me guess, you are just like me and actually move your character with your Ring and Index finger instead as using your Pinkie and Middle finger just feels so off and wrong? If so, do you do what I do and move your hand over an extremely unconfortable key once left and now you are missing a huge part of the keyboard with your now sore hand as well?

But yeah, I bought the game and I regret it until I can later change my controls as well. Thanks for letting me know that it is a simple text file but still...it shouldn't have been this hard to change.

Bud, exactly, i use these fingers (but my wedding ring is on the right arm:). Middle finger is the strongest one so using it for forward/backward is comfortable. I am playing on arrows, so Pinkie is for RCtrl (crouch), RShift (sprint) and other nearest keys such as Enter or Backspace. And i don't miss a huge part of the keyboard, because i have a whole 9-buttons set of Insert, Delete, Home, End, PgDn/Up e.t.c. in easy access for 3 middle fingers from the arrows just below them, plus 17 buttons on Num Pad section. So i have 30+ buttons under my left hand which i can press without releasing Middle finger from Up or Down Arrows, so i can press all those buttons and move forward and bakward at the same time also with possibility to crouch or run by using Pinkie. Can WASD users press "0" weapon button the same way? I don't think that would be such easy

See, I don't even need to get into how this is my whole point even, which it is though. It is just that nobody uses the same controls unless you were "force fed" them and want to conform to what 'others' think is better for you or to be a lazy programmer. There is nothing wrong with asking for mild changes and this goes with our whole point.

I mean really, in a FPS, I use Mouse 2 to walk forward. Who does that but it works for me and it has a huge bonus of being able to use your left hand from time to time to eat and whatnot as an extra but it just works for me as to fire and to go forward are the two buttons I use the most in a FPS by far and my right hand is my dominate hand and all.

However, I am perfectly fine with those who like the WASD way of movement but if it were up to me in a "FPS" where a keyboard is forced to be used to move with, I would much rather use 'E' and I would NEVER USE 'W' as the hand thing using "W" does not and will never work for me. And this is okay too.

I truly do respect the game though and even knowing I have been complaining over and over about this it is mostly as I truly feel that this game has some true merit and I honestly think I would cherish it if I could just play it in a functional way.

-----------------------

I don't want to be "That Guy" and all but what would be so hard to giving a single option to change the "USE" key to ANY diferent key so a player like myself could bind "E" to "UP"? I have taken basic programming in High School and even knowing I am in no way this good as what this game offers, even I can program the key to change "E" to being a varitable as well as making a "Go in Doorway" to another programmable key.

----------------------

I beat this horse to death as this truly was a fun game, I just really, really don't want to be forced to use a joypad as aiming with a joypad is far too difficult for a Keyboard/Mouse player and there really isn't a need to force it. But please, ....please fix the extremely easy thing to fix in this otherwise great working game.

It is so nice to not having to complain because room "X" is broken or the game crashes when "Y" happens. For not reading a decent example of how this game could have been broken like so many other games, I truly give my thanks. I'm just so envious that I cannot enjoy a great game due to a small and EASILY FIXABLE problem.

Thank you,
Bud

Totally agree with you! I am so tired of asking or facing lacks of mouse Y invert and keys rebind features not even in cheap indie games but even in high class game - Obduction for example.

...and if even I, who barely passed my only class of "Computer Programming" back in high school will tell you, it is incredibly easy to program this feature in. I blame the developers laziness and the communities 'sheep hearding' sklls to prevent the change and not for some major difficulty to accmplish.

Not only laziness, but sometime ignorance in genre's standarts. Some of devs really wonders why people ask for mouse invert option. "This is not a flight simulator, why do you need mouse to be inverted?"

Oh yeah, but it is the same with personal wealth, religion and politics. Everyone is different but the vast majority society thinks that 'they are right while everyone else is wrong'. It is just that this is mone of the best examples of how a person just "assumes" that everyone is the same when we clearly aren't.

But then, as also with politic, even when they find out that they are wrong, they are both too lazy and too self-deluted to fix the problem when they realise that it is wrong.

Of course - game was bought, they got money for it and who cares that some players can't play at all? Such a trifle...
