FTL: Faster Than Light

FTL: Faster Than Light

Needs more mods to stay interesting.
Considering this game is way too hard for most people, and fairly boring once you figure out how to explain the AI in order to win, the mod scene really needs to step in and keep this game interesting for everyone.

Hopefully the dev will work with Steam to create a real mod community and make it easier to manage mods than it is now.

There already is a modding community. You can find them at their forums.

88 hours in FTL and still counting.
4 ships unlocked and 7 layouts so still tons of stuff for me to see yet.
I will let you know when the fun stops for me.

I would just like to say that I think this game is PERFECT. It obviously was not a huge budget project but they leveraged their resources perfectly and it's a design masterpiece. I am sure there will be many mods and new options to come.

Yes, and there are very few mods. That is why I said there should be "more" mods, and not that there should be "mods".

Also, the mod manager is not that great (no offense), because running multiple mods at the same time rarely seems to work for me, without any errors or exceptions when mods aren't applied properly.

This gave is fun as it is, but when you realize it could be a platform for am active and creative modding community, you see how fun things can really get.

Mods are great! More power to the community and good on the devs for their support. I'm sure I'll get around to trying some out eventually. But yeah, I'm pushing 70 hours and still having a blast with vanilla. Gotta agree with Slaughtersun on this one. It's refreshing to see a title that is pretty much done right out of the gate like FTL. I'm tired of half-baked releases that rely on modders to prop them up.

Should it have more mods? I've no idea how many it has now, but of course! Does it need more mods? Nah.

Lot's of games didn't "need" any mods, because they were already great on their own... until a mature modding community came in, showed the player base that the perfect game people already loved was in fact an even more perfect platform for an entire sub-genre of gaming.

FTL is a great platform, and there is quite a lot a good community can do with it.

The platform basically breaks down into:
Graph Theory + Random Event Generator + Finite State Machine

That's pretty huge potential, if people are willing to work with it, and I think they will.

I`ve played around with the mods some. They`re fun for a while but honestly ?

They break the game balance in half. The game is pretty finely balanced as is and adding something one way or another topples the whole thing ♥♥♥♥ over teakettle.

Don`t get me wrong I play around with mods, I like trying out mods. But even now I find myself coming back to vanilla more than anything else.

3 year bump? In fact such an old bump that we are seeing posts by hghwolf.
most mods are some op ships, they don't make the game more interesting

Obviously you didn't take the time to look through the mods if you seriously think that.

actually i was interested in some mods that really make the game better, i'm just saying most of them didn't try to do this

Well, why would I make mods that make the game different or better when the game is already perfect in my opinion? Hence why I make different ships to play in the already perfected game.
