Question about Mercenaries
So the merc will offer to slow down the rebel forces. Does that include slowing them down if they aren't in your own sector? Will it take them longer to get to your sector then?

A merc will make the rebel fleet stop completely for one jump.

In other words : Usually not worth it.

Usually not worth it, but I will admit, they saved my butt a couple of times.
But, yeah...best to only use them if you feel it's necessary.

To get more specific, if a delaying the rebels by one jump is the difference between getting a Glaive Beam or not, by all means delay them. That kind of situation, where delaying will give you an advantage guaranteed, is incredibly rare. The scrap cost would normally offset any gains made from the delay.

Wasn't it delaying them for 2 jumps? It is quite worth it if you go for high score or just want / have to go through more beacons.

I'm pretty certain it is 2 jumps, I managed to explore every point in a sector because I delayed them twice, which equated to 4 jumps of delay.
