So about the "easy" mode......
When I play easy mode, I should atleast be able to get past the 4th sector.....

Haha, yeah. But there really is no sense to make it too easy since there is no real story or scenery to experience like you would a AAA game. You got farther than I did I believe. You got almost half way there. I believe it's fine the way it is though. What frustrates me is the amount of luck involved in the game period.

I bought it on GOG... more goodies there!

I can get to the final ship on either difficulty but I have more fun on easy since they give you bit more money(scrap), thats the only difference I find, they still kick your butt on the last ship, Its like they only want for you to enjoy the journey and not the satisfaction of finishing a rougue game.... which is kind of a letdown.

I have yet to beat the final ship. Tough! not sure what I can do differently because it just completely kills me, I don't even put up a good fight

What do you mean?

I never got past Sector 3, much less Sector 4, until I read the Tips Thread which clued me in on a lot of things, and I got all the way to Sector 8. For starters, don't be in a hurry to jump to the next Sector. Spending some fuel battling ships and exploring events can be really useful early in the game.

As for the ship battles, remember your biggest enemy are the shields. If you have an Ion weapon and a multifiring laser, you can push most shields down and keep them there as long as you prioritize your shots. Don't use Autofire, because the wrong weapon might launch first. In a pinch, fire a missile or two at the enemy Shield Room then lay down supressing fire on the room with your lasers, to keep them from being repaired.

And last but not least, remember that even if most events occur randomly, the effects and of the events are not randomized. If you think you've run across a mission before, chances are, you have (crazy guy on planet, slaver ship attack, rescue ship from debris, etc.)

I have never played on easy.

Erm, what exactly do you mean here? By "effects" do you mean "outcome"? If so then the outcome of almost every event actually is randomized.

I think he means that the outcome of many events can be controlled partly by the player.

Yes. Yes you should.

I got to the last sector on my first go while playing easy (and still am playing "easy"). Off course, I was horribly underpowered. There are a lot of RNG events (store placement and offerings for example), which is a little annoying, but I'm liking the challenge. Of course, I've only played less than 10 times so far. Just faced off the boss for the first time, but it destroyed me in the second round =/

Easy mode is... pretty easy. I can get to the final boss without trouble most times I play on easy, beating the boss depends how lucky I was on the way there with what items I found.

STOP THE REBELS. Or slow them down at least. Damn it give us more time to explore and get the weapons and power-ups we want. And if you stumble upon them and put off an epic fight what do you get if you win? 1fuel? There are lots of "sectors" yet to explore for the developers.

There is a mod to do that.

That's why you have Nebulas. Try to travel into as many Nebulas as possible.
Also, this is a roguelike game. The #1 rule about roguelike is insta-death ( there are exceptions, but then there are penalties ), #2 is hard as ****. So the difficulty is just right.
